I LOVE the app so much and have for years. It has been a real spark to daily creating and I love the community, support and fun of it all. I don’t mind that the inspiration is now curated as it has brought more quality images to create from. I love the vast talents of artists - from self taught to degree holders, beginners to advanced. My only complaint is the app is clearly moving towards being a subscription/paid (only?) service and I am not interested in that (yet anyway). The tips are fine, but I like to explore on my own a lot too. Daily is too much. A tip once a week would be better. The new update makes the paid portion/daily tips front and center, which free member cannot access. I understand we all have to make money and absent ads, what can they do? I will keep an open mind as updates become available. As an aside, I had a whopper of a techno problem and was blocked from my account. They were AWESOME in helping me resolve it.

When I downloaded this app in 2017, I didn't realize that Sktchy has everything needed to build a daily drawing and painting practice. I am now using it regularly, and I am grateful to Sktchy for developing an amazing artists' community and set of resources. Sktchy has been great for me, but it took a bit of trial and error to figure out how to use the app to best advantage. Some tips: 1. The gist of Sktchy is to chose an inspiration photo, use it as a reference to make a drawing, painting, or multimedia piece. You can make digital art also. Then take a picture of your finished work, attach it to the inspiration photo, and upload it to the app. 2. Spend time looking through the collection of inspiration photos. There are thousands of photos to chose from and lots of nearly perfect opportunities for inspiration. 3. Think twice before uploading a "free draw" or a piece that was not created with an inspiration photo on Sktchy. Uploading only Sktchy inspired pieces supports the value of sharing work interpreted from a common set of references. 4. Take time to see how different artists have worked the same inspiration photo. Look through the art that has been posted and read comments. There are lots of sharing of ideas and helpful tips throughout the comments on posted art. For other artists and art enthusiasts, I highly recommend this app. Sktchy will support artistic progress for any level of experience, and it will give new opportunities to experiment with your work. Sktchy promotes interesting learning opportunities that are accessible to everybody. Sktchy has a great community for anyone who is interested in the process of making art.

I downloaded the app about 2 days ago and since have really enjoyed the way you can basically collect lots of photos for inspiration in the app. it's really cool that it puts it all in one place! i also really like this app because the people uploading photos for inspiration a lot of times really try to make their pictures dynamic and interesting and it's not just a bunch of people going "draw me plz!!!" with a horrible snapchat filter picture that crops out half their face. There are a lot of users on Sktchy who seem to really care and that totally rocks. i also like that it has a very small community feeling to it and doesnt feel like when you upload art that youre shouting into the void like instagram feels a lot of the time, lol it really does feel like people are actually able to see your art and theyre interested in it. overall this app is useful if you enjoy drawing portraits and want to become better at them, because a lot of the "inspiration" pictures people provide are their own faces. it's also a cool app if you have some nice photography that you'd like to see inspire people to make art. so far im excited to experience more!!
