Update: will reduce review to half a star if possible. The app not only is the complete opposite of intuitive but it also fails to function stably, forcing you to close and reopen the app, then navigate their cumbersome interface just to activate a switch in your home It’s very confusing, in the product description it says it has Bluetooth but then when you download and install the app it forces you to give them your WiFi password. If you change your router there is no option to re register the new router, at least not that I can find one in the confusing interface. You have to signe out and reinstall then register everything again. The app also doesn’t update in your other devices when a switch has been turned off or on. I.e. you turn a switch off in your tablet and it still show as switch on in your other devices.

Still learning the quirks. These devices are great if you want your own control. They work with or without the cloud. Their API gives you so much control and monitoring ability. Today I setup a temp/ humidity monitor. I paid $10 for it on sale from their website. It has a webpage and can launch a url on high/low temp and high/low humidity. They have tiny controllers that fit behind an outlet and will monitor the current draw. Very cool.

Great components for automation, ok App. My biggest issue with the App is the lack of support for password protected devices. Every Shelly device should always be setup with a strong password. By default they all are installed passwordless - open to the network. The app does not allow a device password to be set or updated. The devices individual web interface can do that. After setting a device password for every Shelly device manually, the App then asks for that password every day, on almost every device interaction. There is no way to save the device password in the account. Password should never be that painful. Shelly really needs to focus on securing its devices and making it simple for the end user.
