Qwant for Safari

I’ve been using this for probably 4-5 years now over DDG or Google and only in the last year has it been running really slow. Before that though? Solid search engine overall.

It works very fast on my base iPhone 16! Maybe adds half of a second to the search, if that. The extension captures searches not only from within Safari, but also within the search function on the home screen, which is very nice. My only complaint is that there is a bright flash of a white screen between when I initiate a search and when the extension redirects to qwant. This is probably no issue for people with UI on light mode, but on dark mode it can be a bit jarring.

This extension replaces the default Safari search engine with Qwant. The first time I tried it, it didn’t seem to do anything. I tried again and carefully followed the instructions in the App Store screen shots. This time it worked. You’ll still see the old default search engine in Safari settings, but the extension will ignore that and redirect to Qwant.
