Reviews: What People Think About Kaizen | Adaptive run training

I’m a huge fan of training this way, and I used JSET before switching to this app. Unfortunately I can’t get past some of the bugginess with this new app from Josh. All my training days are automatically logged as being the day prior for some reason. I can’t understand where to control my subscription. And I have struggled to get a plan that’s really accurate to where I am and what my goals are. Bottom line is I need to be able to just trust the numbers it’s feeding me and I don’t based on how buggy things still are.

I was hesitant to write a review 4 ish days into my free trial because I assumed the app was new and they were still working things out. It’s apparently 4 years old! My big problems are: 1. It’s so buggy. It’s like.. first 6 months of production buggy. Weeks I plan don’t show up. Runs I complete aren’t recorded in the weekly dashboard. 2. I have no idea how to use it lol. It’s not very intuitive and I like to think I’m fairly tech savvy usually. But there’s no FAQ, no tutorials, no nothing but a discord group no one’s active in. I get the premise of the app it’s literally USING it that’s confusing. 3. I also don’t really get the premise of the app. Basically they just tell you how many miles to run in a week to see the gains you want then you’re free to structure that how you want. But if you already know how to structure runs and how to pace don’t you also probably know how to scale mileage optimally? 4. You can’t plan runs in decimals. I run by percentage. So if I’m running 11 miles for the week, for example, Tuesday and Thursday are both 15% of my weekly mileage so I’ll run 1.65 both days. I round up for silly decimals but they don’t let you use decimals at all. Does no one in kaizen run an extra half mile ? End of the day it’s just not at all worth a subscription.

I find app compelling and great overall. It has significantly helped me improve and cater my training. My frustration lies in there is no way to edit runs. So for example I ran a 10 mile run and it imported 2 runs of 20 miles each….so data for the week is messed up and I have no way to edit. This happened once before and the app eventually did correct itself but have to just hope data imports correctly is what’s holding back a higher rating.
About Kaizen | Adaptive run training
Train with total confidence to be in goal shape by race day, without sweating the specifics of a rigid training plan.

Kaizen's training system cares about 2 things; getting you in goal fitness on race day, and giving you the flexibility to train around your life and commitments. This is how it works.

Once you’ve connected your data and set a goal, you will be set a weekly distance target.

The weekly target may change during the week, depending at what pace you run, how much elevation you gain and how much cross training you do.

Your race prediction will update after every run, considering the impact of every single run on your overall fitness. If you achieve your weekly target week after week, Kaizen will get you in shape to run your goal time on race day and you'll see your prediction improving accordingly.

Kaizen reflects an accurate picture of your training and progress. Its simplicity keeps you motivated and realistic about achieving your running goals.
