This app has so much potential but it has to many bugs and is not very user friendly. One of biggest issues with it, is that logging your food is a pain. A lot of my foods are not recognized and the ones that are listed the macros are wrong. It also will randomly change my weight to 450lbs/204Kg. Which means that it doubles my calorie intake for the day. I can reset it and it still doesn’t save my actual weight. This app has a long way to go before it is worth using.
I tried this app last winter and was not a fan. Nothing seemed to work correctly. I just downloaded it again as it is free with a training plan I am using. It has improved somewhat, but has a long ways to go. The good- it integrates well with training peaks. No issues pulling workouts for your schedule and adding them to your day. It doesn’t great job adjusting your intake based on the workouts you do. The nutrition suggestions for workouts also seem to work well. It would be nice if that added some hydration suggestions as well. The bad-the food logging is just not very good. Coming from MacroFactor, this app has a long ways to go. The scan feature was a nice addition. However, it works maybe 10% of the time. The interface is clunky and not user friendly. The cost is high for what you get. It makes more sense for me to use MacroFactor ($75/year) and the Saturday nutrition app ($5/month) than it does to use Hexis for $20/month. Both do a better job individually at what they are good at than Hexis does trying to combine the 2 with mediocre results. I will continue to try it while it’s free, and will update my review if things improve. It’s a great idea, it’s just lacking delivery.
This app has great potential for athletes that want to monitor both the amount and timing of carb intake to maximize their performance. Unfortunately though the app has serious flaws at this point that need to be addressed. The integration with TrainingPeaks is broken, although the developer notes it is being addressed. While the app is not intended to be a calorie tracker, it falls into that category by necessity, and lacks many features that are standard on other calorie counting apps such as favorite foods and meals. These features are “coming soon” in the app, but should have been fully implemented on launch, especially given the comparatively steep subscription price.
