I just had my 20kW generator installed a couple weeks ago and got the internet connection up a couple days ago. I have browsed through all of the app menus and options I can find and am underwhelmed thus far. I expected to find basic information such as how many hours are on my engine. The controller lists the hours it has been operating, but I can’t find engine runtime anywhere. Also, I expected to find a maintenance schedule in the app, but so far nothing. These are basic items for an app for a device like a generator. And the app design isn’t stellar. For example, the delete account button is right below the logout button. An option you rarely use and which has significant consequences should NEVER be right beside a frequently used option. That is software design 101. So far I am not impressed with the Kohler app.

Kohler offers a firmware update package on its website with instructions - do it yourself or have a tech do it. This fixed my app connection issues. About one year ago, installed a 26K generator, direct wired into house router. OnCue and this new app never worked. Connections to Kohler server were rare, probably less than 1% of the time. Spent a lot of effort and $ verifying my internet was connected and good, and ultimately Kohler was never able to provide any reason for the connection issues. The firmware update proves it was always on their end, and I only discovered this solution after starting another of my web deep dives to find answers. Kohler should be more proactive in contacting and helping customers fix this issue. So a 4 star rating, maybe too high based on past issues - but the app has been working for weeks.

This app replaced the older one that worked reliably. At first this app appeared to be working well but now it is failing to show the latest alerts or generator stats even though it shows as connected to the generator. It’s more than a bit frustrating. I wish I could continue to just use the older version.
