A lot of work has gone into this app, and it shows, so I’m grateful. However, I noticed move sets and some other details are not entirely accurate. I’m playing through Crystal currently and was working with Quilava to get Quick Attack before switching over to my Drowzee for a little bit, which according to this app, I’m supposed to get Quick Attack at Lv 19. Except when I got to level 19, no move was learned. Maybe a Crystal glitch? So I kept going and again at level 20, no new move learned. I double checked the app, I’m set to Crystal, Quilava, it says Level 19, Quick Attack. So I pulled up Bulbapedia, Gen 2 move sets for Crystal. Turns out, Quilava learns this at 21, not 19. I also saw that Flame Wheel, Swift, and Flamethrower are also incorrect in the app, being learned at levels 31, 42, and 54, respectively. What I’m looking at are Gen 9 stats while I’m set to Crystal in the drop down. I don’t want it to overshadow what is clearly a labor of love in an app that looks really beautiful, but if the information is not accurate to the game/generation being played, it undermines the effectiveness of the app, and I really don’t want to have to keep running over to Bulbapedia just to validate the information I’m looking at here. Other than that, I have no complaints. The app is quite nice. I have the paid version.
I got this app for a one off thing I was doing with my friends, but I actually found myself really enjoying the app and how user friendly it was, with a wide wealth of information. As I was enjoying the “make a team” feature, as I go to make a third theoretical team, it informed me that was a “pro only” item. I expect that this is going to be one of those scummy “$8-$10 a month subscription service” nonsense that so many apps seem so eager to incorporate nowadays, asking you to pay continuously for an app that is not at all worth it. Imagine my surprise when I learned the pro upgrade was just a flat purchase of $5. No subscription, no nonsense, just a flat, small fee. It was at that moment, filled with absolute respect for these developers for taking the high road and choosing to put out a quality product, without succumbing to the temptation of the scummy business practices that seem to act as the new meta for apps nowadays, that I immediately paid for the subscription, not just because I wanted the benefits it offered, but because I also wanted to support these developers that had so quickly earned my respect. Fantastic work, I look forward to using this for many months to come.
I love this app! I’ve used this one and pro dex 1-9 and this one is much better by far for my organizational needs. The only issues I would like to see addressed are how Pokémon are sorted or filtered between gens. For example, if I filter for gen 4 HGSS, I get a lot of Pokémon that may still show with incorrect typing like fairy, or moves with incorrect typing since they were introduced in later generations. This follows down to earlier gens as well when I’m replaying those. It makes for a harder time to plan out my teams and move sets and forces me to go out of app to look at serebii for the correct info. Another issue is when I’m looking for Pokémon spawns on specific routes, in some instances I’m sorting through 7 different games each time I select a location to find what I need. I wish there was a way I could select a game that I’m playing, say Soul Silver, and all the info, pokedexes, locations, moves, and Pokémon would be updated and specific to that game. I just think it’d be a really great QoL feature if it could happen. Just to be clear, there are currently a few different options, such as default game, or filter dex based on game, but they don’t work the way I would want them to work. Filter dex by game limits games like HGSS to only gen 2 Pokémon. It eliminates any of the gen 3 and 4 you can catch or trade into the games. And default game works well for the dex as a start, but I’d like it to be expanded beyond the Pokédex and include that corrected typing/move typing as well as locations, team building etc.
