I’ve always loved using my iPad, but when I’m on the road, I’ve often found myself reaching for a Chromebook instead. Chromebooks handle multitasking better, especially when juggling Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and other tasks. The latest version of iOS has definitely made progress toward better multitasking, but it still doesn’t quite match the feel of a real desktop.
That’s where Lok Board comes in. It’s a game-changer for anyone who wants more out of their iPad. I’d call it a "WebKit OS for iPad," similar to how ChromeOS works on a Chromebook. It turns your iPad into something much closer to a virtual desktop, making it feel more like a proper computer.
One of the best things about Lok Board is how well it handles PWAs. If you’ve been running PWAs on a Chromebook, you’ll find they work just as smoothly on Lok Board’s virtual desktop. It’s perfect for managing emails, organizing projects, or even running lightweight productivity apps all in one place.
No, Lok Board doesn’t completely replace the need for a desktop, but it comes pretty close. If you’re someone who loves their iPad but wishes it could multitask better or support PWAs like a Chromebook, this app is worth checking out. This app is really good for productivity. It gives your iPad a really similar feeling to a MacBook with the added benefit of the touch screen. The app works well both a keyboard and the Apple Pencil. There’s quite a few features that I’d love to see get added but overall the app is really worth it!

I used to have a great review on this. Now, apple has made their own improved version of window management on iPad, (iPadOS 26) and it’s just that apple has created something that can do equivalent things, without having to pay the price. If your iPad can update only up to 16 or else, this app is a great app for you. I’m just saying, this is only a good app for non-supported devices.
If you’re someone just trying to find a good app, I’m sorry for the long review.
