This game tried really hard to be Genshin and they didn’t get away with it. The MC is faceless which is terrible. Lacks inclusiveness, I mean, even an option with the MC being exactly the same except female would be better. You don’t care about him or any of the characters you meet and play with. And everyone is in love with him for some reason? The story is honestly really boring too. :/ They also immediately drop a limited time SSR banner days into the game. It just feels like a giant cash grab. Also, you can easily finish all your tasks in like 15 minutes and there’s nothing else to do until tomorrow. There’s not a lot of content. There are too little characters and very uneven distribution between classes. It’s like they already had all the characters drawn up and they removed a bunch to sell more banners. And the 1 dollar SSR Fene seems like such a steal that everyone bought it which seems like you killed everyone for cash.
I don’t know how else to put it, NIKKE isn’t a world class amazing story, but it’s 10x more engaging, has better characters, design, and music. The other issue is NIKKE also has better, *ahem* art assets. So you’re kinda failing on both fronts there. Re: Unfortunately fixing these problems would require a massive overhaul of the game as a whole. The game itself is fine. It’s got good art and the music isn’t grating. The problem is, it’s one of a million other gacha games, but it also has a very restrictive amount of characters. There’s 2, count em. TWO assassin characters, and like 5 guardians. This somewhat leads me to believe there was some break down in terms of developing more, OR, considering you already have a new limited time banner up, you had more characters and gutted the game of its characters in order to sell them later on on limited platforms. You also need to take a look at monetization. A game like Genshin impact can get away with charging a hundred dollars for a CHANCE at getting a cool new character, because that new character can change the ENTIRE gameplay experience. A new character in this game is new voice lines and maybe higher numbers popping up on screen after those voice lines are yelled. Also the more you keep removing my rating the more I’ll keep coming back and reinstating it.
First let me start by saying that I do like this game, but from what I’ve played so far it feels like it’s missing something that I can’t quite figure out. The story feels…lackluster, I guess I would say. It feels like it’s trying to be a good story, but it’s very basic. I’ve gotten to halfway through Chapter 3 and the subtitles have started to not match what is being voiced by characters - not a big issue, but slightly annoying. I have not experienced past the 3rd chapter as I’m writing this. There’s a lot in this game and it feels like there is not enough energy (I forget what they call it in game) to do most of it. I find myself auto-battling through mostly the money and level up material levels so far. The combat is fun and feels unique. I like how the characters look, the chats with characters on the other hand feel very boring. It’s been pretty f2p friendly, but I expect that to slow down throughout the game like most gachas. Overall, I’d recommend checking it if you’re thinking about it. I'm excited to see where this game goes and how it improves.
