I’ve been playing this game; and loving it, for a very long time, I can’t same for sure how long as my sense of time is gone, due to a stroke. Playing this game has sharpened my mind again, for which I’m grateful. I too(like others) have frustration with certain bots throwing a high card under or over my high card, when they should have thrown a lower one, which they did have. Or when I’ve gone Nil and my partner throws out a 5 on the first round, the others always seem to have the 3 and 4, and I have the 6! Next my partner plays the Ace of that same suit! It’s so frustrating. Also, when it’s so obvious the opposing team’s one person that went Nil has the Ace; K or Q, I’ve trapped them and thrown the lowest card that isn’t trumped by the opposing partner(they have a low card too), what does my partner do? Throws the Darn Q of Spades and the Nil opponent smiles as they toss out their Ace, and UP GOES MY PULSE(my watch tells me) as I’m yelling at my Stupid Partner! As I hear from the Recliner; “Well do you think they heard ya?” and I say “Yes, but they probably don’t care what I say, even though when they’re my open in the very next game, they play the RIGHT WAY!” My BIGGEST GRIPE is that I’ve been STUCK AT GRANDMASTER III FOR MONTHS! My score goes between 2047 and 2052 and that’s it! I should have reached the next tier ages ago. I love the game, but now it’s gotten boring, because the only thing happening is that I do get new Titles. Can you fix it?
I love being able to play Spades quickly whenever, where ever. I also dig the sound of the cards being dealt. The sound it makes after a successful hand is the worst, though. It sounds like someone is playing a synth piano by throwing their head on the keyboard or maybe like throwing a xylophone across a room. I’m sure the developers can do better considering how lovely the rest of the sounds are. Please, please considering updating that too loud, terrible sound. As others have said, the AI partner plays strangely sometimes and covers opps bids, but it’s hardly the end of the world. I still love this game, and play it most days. If I had a wish list, I’d ask to be able to play live against real players (with a bot that could take over if one of the humans bails.) It would also be cool to be able to play local games via local Wi-Fi or even Bluetooth. Am I getting greedy?
Before the actual game began I was notified I’d have a partner as opposed to playing against the computer. No problem I thought until bidding followed by the initiation of playing our cards. In team Spades when your partner throws out the highest card in a given suit and the play has reached you trumping the trick with a spade is contraindicated and self defeating. Equally ridiculous is having “my partner” overtrump an opposing player’s high card who has bid NIL when doing so has the direct effect of allowing the opposition to make 100 points. In real game play you duck their high card play sinking their bid. Since writing this review I’ve played hundreds of additional games. Here are some additional strong suggestions. Never lead out a king from a king doubleton unless the other card is a queen since doing so guarantees that if your opponent has the Ace Queen you’ve just given them not one but possibly two tricks. Likewise, in real play no one either leads a low card when holding the Ace of a suit nor throws off a low card on the opponent’s lead hoping you’ll get to cash it later. When opponents bid Nil one’s Bot partner should be programmed to try to both make our bid and stopping the opponent from making theirs. Otherwise please create an option where Apple Arcade players globally can team up together to play other humans. Heck you could actually create leagues
