I purchased this smart watch for my daughter who started middle school this year. The watch itself is fine, but we have had connection issues. The whole point of getting the watch was so we could stay connected when she walks to and from school. During the AWS outage, my daughter could not send text messages to our phone. I only later discovered I could see them in this app in the Messages section. That obviously caused a lot of stress for my daughter and myself as a working parent. We did sign up for the two year plan and I hope that COSMOS works on the connection issues so it’s a more reliable service. I love the watch for its simplicity and the parent controls. But I want a service that we can count on, especially if another outage occurs!

First off, the watch is ok… that’s why the 2 stars. If you have decent T-mobile coverage in your area it can make and receive calls from the 10 contacts you choose for your child. Note: only “Guardians” can text and have to do it from within this app. My gripe is with this app. The “Safe Zones”, which is the main reason I got the watch, don’t alert you soon enough if your kid leaves a zone. I get an alert 15 minutes after my kid leaves a zone… 10 minutes if I’m lucky. That would not be cool if it were an actual emergency and he was taken. I was hoping an update would fix but it doesn’t appear to be happening. The app doesn’t always work either and the live tracking isn’t that great. I’m very glad I didn’t prepay for a year, or worse 2 years, of cell coverage. I suggest going the month to month route if you really must try it but if I were you, I’d look elsewhere. I plan on investing a little more money and getting my kid the low-end Apple Watch with cellular coverage.

Our 7 year old had been begging for a Smartwatch but we were reluctant to go full mainstream with the Apple Watch until he proved he could be responsible with it. This watch meets our needs perfectly. I can locate him riding his bike on GPS, he can text me when he is outside on our large property (he uses his voice texting and it comes to me as both an audio recording and a transcription). It does not have a lot of distracting apps so he can wear it to school without being a problem. I added a couple family members as contacts and he enjoys being able to send them messages too. My only complaint is that the transcribed messages can be incorrect, but it’s usually “close enough” for mom to know what he said. Customer service was helpful when I did need them early on. I would buy this again for a 7 year old.
