Been using this app 10 months. Has an extremely thorough library of official entries for bourbons (my personal focus), and new/seasonal releases tend to be added within a month of their release. For those that sometimes lag behind, the app allows you to add your own unique barrel pick/special release bottles yourself, complete with UPC, product name, and image from your camera roll. The bugs I’ve encountered have been overwhelmingly minor, and the couple that have annoyed me have been addressed within two weeks of me reporting them—a very simple process, and I’ve received an email response within a couple days every time. The devs are active and are very consistent with updates. I’d appreciate 1) the ability to hide or implement low-rez images, because when your collection (both active and empty/archived) grows large enough, there can be some noticeable scrolling lag; and 2) a significantly higher character count when entering custom notes on each bottle entry, as the current limit holds you to basically what you see in the synopsis on the back of a trade paperback. Those are my only current persisting complaints. This app is great.
I’m really enjoying this app right now. I’m about three months into my bourbon collecting journey, and I have been using this and all of the features included to keep track of my bar and to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. The only real suggestions I have at this point, and I will have more in the future. I’m sure, is that there needs to be a more organized vetting process of the bottles that are uploaded. Seeing a bunch of random peoples bottles with messy backgrounds is really disorganized and confusing. Especially to newcomers. all of these bottles need to have a white background and need to have a solid price foundation before they’re allowed to be added. I’m guessing there needs to be some more moderators on this app in order to help expedite a lot of the suggestions people are sending in. It might also be a good idea to add a section to each bottle where people can vote on the real time fair price that they see in stores currently, instead of just a yes, or no feature. overall, this is a massive step in the right direction for what the bourbon collecting community needs! I have not found another app like this. In the future, being able to integrate a map that is crowd, sourced basically showing where people have spotted rare bottles would be epic!
As many retailers are trying to cash in on the “bourbon” rush, it is the consumers job to draw the line when enough is enough. Knowing MRP and what the going shelf price makes talking to store owners more productive. It’s not my price opinion, it’s a data based/crowd sourced feedback on what is out there. This app helps show price increases and keeps me honest with myself that I have an obsession which is better managed with knowing the real cost impact. The support Janitor Bob really came through helping me transfer my account to a new phone when the reset password wasn’t sending me an email. Looking forward to the next version of updates.
