This app is actually good! Idk y people hate it but I JUST LOVEEEEEE how the lessons (im doing Korean and Japanese ) are small and easy to understand and explains easily. Bc unlike other apps, they literally give me a new grammar thing and literally never explains why it’s that way. My Korean is getting so much better bc I started of as a complete beginner . This app makes it fun to learn bc of how simple the lessons are and it makes it soooo easy. Also I love how they make us practice the words the teacher was saying in the lesson and brings up previous learned words in new lessons so I don’t forget. I also love the flashcards and you can make your own so it’s basically anki on the app and the ability to have pods in your target language so u can communicate to other people and practice. It’s really cool. The only thing I would say is just to finish the languages and maybe add more! Like I’m learning Portuguese and Chinese too and I wish this app had the lessons on it but I know you guys are trying hard! Keep it up bc this is my fav language learning app. It’s literally all in one. P.S and also I forgot, I don’t pay subscription so I only have 2 learning lessons I can do but I’m literally fine with that. As long as it remains free and doesn’t force me to pay bc I’m broke !
This app is off to a strong start. I am currently learning French with Fluyo and it reminds me of Lingo Legend - where it is a turn-based RPG style of play. The customizability is a nice touch and the music sets a nice feel. However, there are a few things that I have noticed that perhaps need addressing: -The mini-games like Bomb Royale and Recall Master have freezing issues that force me to exit the game and take a loss -During the learning words/phrases aspect of the game, sometimes the fill-in-the-blank portion is already completed - already providing me with the correct answer which defeats the purpose -For French at least, the Wayfinder lessons do not seem to be active (I have not, however, completed the campaign yet.) From what I’ve read, the Wayfinder lessons seem to add a richness and practicality to the game that I am currently missing out on -Name capitalization is not consistent across different aspects of the game. The first letter of my name would be capitalized on the Home Screen/Profile, but not the mini games -An easier to access review tab that is easily visible and can act like “combat training” for my dolphin. A variety of exercises can be used like spelling (like online Spelling-Bees), correct gender of words, grammar, sentence structure, even AI speech recognition for pronunciation I really want this app to succeed and I feel it is in course to do so. It just requires big fixes, updates and time.
I think the concept behind Fluyu is great, but unfortunately, it’s poorly executed. I appreciate features like the voiced transcripts, similar to Pimsleur, and the active quizzing after lessons—it’s a good way to reinforce what you’ve learned. However, there are some major drawbacks. The app constantly nags you to upgrade after each lesson, which gets frustrating, especially given how buggy the platform is. The battles are also painfully slow, and the items used to decorate the dolphins feel pointless. If these items boosted stats, it might actually make them worth paying for. To improve the experience, I’d suggest adding features like podcasts, a friend-pairing system or reminders similar to Duolingo, and more opportunities to earn coins through battles. Giving users an alternative to microtransactions would make the app more accessible and enjoyable. Overall, Fluyu has potential, but it needs significant updates and polish before I can fully recommend it.
