I downloaded this app just to try out and was immediately met with a paywall. After reluctantly signing up for a 7 day free trial, I was surprised by the quality of the voices in the app and the response quality as well. However, the biggest issue is that the time it takes the ‘teacher’ to respond varies dramatically. Sometimes, it responds in a matter of seconds, but other times, it doesn’t even respond after I wait a 10 full minutes and is still displaying a blank screen with a loading symbol. Moreover, I don’t think there is a way to quickly correct if the ‘teacher’ mishears you (such as a quick flag button) which would be useful sometimes. I love the concept of this app overall, but the execution in my experience is subpar and still needs some more work.

This is a fabulous idea, and for the few minutes it worked I was AMAZED. I’ll check back in a few months & maybe give this another shot. That’s my free advice to anyone else considering the app & subscribing, too. I downloaded Oct 23, 2024. It worked great when I tried it out for 15 minutes. Even bought a subscription to give it a fair go. Writing this review Oct 31: I’ve tried on three occasions to get it working again, including multiple restarts & one delete/re-install. Spent a couple of hours casting about for any kind of tech support. There seem to be ONLY two avenues: Discord, where other users might know something, or emailing the company, which promises to reply within 24 hrs. So, the two extremes. No FAQ. No documentation. No chat or voice tech support. Discord mainly seems to be Jan (the developer) explaining why people are wrong or expect too much… look; this thing isn’t ready for commercial release if you can’t support a software you’re SELLING to people.

The service isn’t actually free but I don’t mind at all, it is definitely worth the money! It would be great to see a free version come out but for now I am enjoying this app as is. I learned of this from Xiaoma and I am so glad that I did. I didn’t have high expectations as I usually don’t have very good success with language learning apps. But this one is phenomenal and a really great learning tool. It’s just like talking to a native speaker without the hassle of finding someone to practice with. I highly recommend.
