SiteScape: LiDAR Scanner & CAD

1.6.1 restores an earlier feature really helps SiteScape be a great tool for landscape planning. SiteScape offers three scanning densities (how closely the scanned points are packed together). The restored “low” density makes landscape scanning quick, easy, and accurate. I haven’t tried the integrated alignment tools yet, but even if you have to manually combine scans, multiple scans in the same session are all oriented and shifted consistently compared to each other. Even using third party tools, this makes it easy to merge point clouds. Beyond the capabilities of the app, the developers have been beyond helpful when I ran into trouble. Despite my frustration, they were patient and walked me through the solution. Top notch customer service.

Recommend this app for easy, straightforward 3D point cloud capture using a newer iPhone or iPad that has built in LiDAR. It’s free - no scan limitations or annoying pop ups like some other apps I’ve tried. I can tweak the capture settings easily and increase the detail for small captures, or decrease the detail to scan larger areas. It’s fun to see the raw power of “reality capture” enabled by this app and my iPad! Make sure to check out the user group to see the cool things people are using it for, and check out the help docs to learn how to export and manipulate the captures. Would love to have control over the range at scanning time.

###Update The increased storage makes taking high quality scans possible. I love this. Only request is that the files work on non-Lidar enabled devices for sharing. Obviously this won’t work for taking images, but it would be nice to share them with people who have iPhones/iPads. With the COVID-19 lockdown, I’ve found myself taking 3D photos of my son at play - would love to share them with grandparents who can’t visit. ###Original review This takes remarkably good scans - I hope this app can handle more data in a single scan soon.
