Our first time in the Portland area we wanted to take in the Columbia Gorge and weren’t exactly sure where to start. I stumbled on this free self guided tour and I can’t say enough good things. We took our time, spending 7 hours on the National Scenic route and loved every minute of minute of it. We followed just about all of the turn off suggestions and just kept finding ourselves pleasantly surprised. Even the points of interest that weren’t for us were nice to experience. The geo-coding worked perfectly and we learned so much along the way. This far exceeds any self guided tour I’ve paid for, can’t wait to come back and try the other guided tours.
First of all, great tour and I would have happily paid for this audio tour. The narration and tempo was good and the stories were interesting. Doing audio tours is one of my favorite things to do in a new place and I was surprised this one was free considering how well it was put together and how much time it probably took to finish. Couple suggestions, add some music between the narration sections (Shaka guide has this and I enjoyed listening to what ever they select for music), add the summer chairlift ride at Mt Hood Meadows, as you leave Portland the Shanghai Tunnels are mentioned and it says well that story is for another time but then there is a long stretch before the next narration, maybe add on a little more to that. And thank you, I learn so much on this tour and had a really good time listening. I hope you stick to these audio guides, you are good at them.
My sister and I completed the Hood driving tour today and had an absolute blast! We started at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland, followed all the way to Timberline Lodge and back with some suggested scenic stops and celebratory beers at McMenamin’s Edgefield to cap off our day. The narration was excellent; a combination of interesting Oregon history and fun facts with perfectly inserted humor that made for a really enjoyable experience. It was so interactive and the attention to detail was beyond impressive! I’ll be recommending this app to all my friends. You’ve got a good thing going, Together Anywhere!
