I switched over from the old Apple TV app and there are so many things I can’t do any more 1. I can’t browse the entire collection of Body ______ apps. It only shows the last 10. So if I want to do Body Combat 86, I have to search for it or favorite it. 2. You can’t add favorites via this app. 3. No release notes. I used to look through Body Pump release notes to see if they had an emphasis on push-ups or a certain move. Can’t do that any more. 4. Still no filter for English v Spanish? I accidentally click the wrong one sometimes and it’s super annoying. 5. The activity counter (“active this month” and “average duration” is useless and demotivating if you only use the Apple TV app. Because it doesn’t increment. 6. Non-native iOS keyboard means my mom can’t use dictation and has to type to find the release she’s looking for. Not ideal. 7. Why are we still auto playing? I just finished a workout. This isn’t a Netflix series. I’m not going for an immediate round 2. Right now, I’m switching back and forth between the old app and the new just for the release notes. Sometimes I don’t want to go by favorites. I just want to browse. Last I logged onto the website, there were filters for instructors too. It’s be nice to have more of that functionality in the TV app. I don’t pre-select workouts online or on the mobile app. I browse through when I’m about to workout and I don’t have any intention to change that behavior. Bottom line is that I only use the Les Mills TV app, and I know I’m not alone. This new app I’m being forced to use on Apple TV just isn’t there for me yet.
Great technical guidance, much better music than other apps, so many workout options that I can choose based on my energy level. They allow multiple devices under one subscription so I can even use my phone at work or a tablet in a hotel room. They always include modification options to protect joints. Working out at home, I can pause to get water when I need to. I have grown a lot from a few years with this subscription and will continue using it for many more years. The bodybalance yoga workouts are very beautiful and artistic, and boxing is always really motivating.
I have been doing different kinds of Les Mills spin classes since I was in graduate school over a decade ago. Their classes are always challenging and feel like they are hitting the right mix between cardio and strength training. It is rare to feel that any of the exercises are a waste of time. I have really enjoyed doing the Body Balnce and Tone and Core classes now that I have Les Mills on demand. Also, The Ride is phenomenal! In the past, I always used less mills in gyms, but since the pandemic, I am loving using the on demand app. If there were any thing I could change, I wish that it were possible to sync the Les Mills app with an Apple Watch the way you can on the Peloton app. I also wish the timing in the upper left showed the time to end of class rather than end of a section. It’s hard to know where you are in the work out. I would also love a rating system since it’s hard to know which ones to pick sometimes. I hope that Les Mills continues to build out the on-demand offerings. It’s really a great resource and the variety is really helpful to not get bored and keep your body challenged. Big thanks to all the team at Les Mills who offer these classes and put this content out there.
