KATC Weather

Nice to be able to pop in and get quick updates for the next few hours or the next few days.

The KATC app does a great job at giving weather information, is easy to use, however, “chicken little” Rob, gives out warnings and advisories way too often. Recently, thunderstorm hit this area at night, the app and “advisories” woke me up all night long. Yeah, I can turn off the notifications, but, then when theres a real need for it, it’s not there..... use some discretion dude!!!! Just because its going to rain doesn’t mean it will flood, sure, if you issue flood warnings every time it rains you will be right eventually, but, people get tired of the “chicken little” warnings and don’t pay attention...and, that’s a bad thing.

I kept checking this app during hurricane Barry and the wind speed forecast was accurate for my area (25-35mph) Sat-Sunday. Rain forecasting is dependably spotty at best ; ) Although hurricane Barry was not much but a trop storm, people are still shell shocked from the floods of 2016 causing quite an emotional stir. Parents in BR went to a hotel, better than leaving their home in chest deep water in 2016!
