Idaho News from KTVB

KTVB is my favorite station. I cannot watch any of the other local stations. I loved Dee Sarton, but I have learned to love Kim Fields just as much. I love Mark Johnson, he’s a hoot and so good at what he does. Rick Lance is great, Jim Doothie also. Brian Holmes is another great newscaster, he can do the news, jump from that desk and then into the weather forecast. He is also great and can certainly multi task. Then there is my sweetheart Bri Eggers, she just amazes me. A little secret I can understand her when she is speaking. The rest of the staff is also worthy of praise. The morning staff is also awesome, I just don’t get up early enough to watch them. I’m Retired!! Keep up the great work!!

I enjoy the local coverage provided by KTVB with the notable exception of “Idaho’s Meteorologist” Rick Lance. If the management of the station would take the time to listen to any one of Lance’s presentations and compare it to any of the other weather people, there would be an immediate change. Every one knows temperatures drop at night and no one cares what the temp will be to the nearest tenth of a degree at 4:00 AM. I exaggerate but the verbal delivery of untold weather minutia with an expression reserved for a mass shooting, is not what people want to hear. We all want an idea of the general conditions coming and the temp range within around five degrees. All the minutia is a total waste of time Come on, KTVB - it is time to move on. Duthey is very good and Eggers is wonderfully refreshing and both deliver what we want to hear - not a bunch of useless BS.

To begin, I want address that the app is wonderful. It’s great for someone to keep in touch of their community even if they don’t have access on the television. The first issue I noticed with the app was the performance, I don’t expect it to be top notch technology, but from someone who plays quite a bit of video games, I want to see good performance. I notice when tapping a section it takes a second to load then it has a white screen. I understand this app just launched, and woohoo! But I hope to see this get fix within a couple weeks at least. The second thing I wanted to address isn’t an issue, more of an irritant. The bar at the bottom with “Home”, “Weather”, and “Watch”. It gets irritating how instant it comes up. In some cases, that’s good. For me personally I don’t like it. I will be scrolling and then I see something interesting so I swipe lightly up to stop the scrolling and the bar lifts up. If you are able to make to where a certain amount pushed up will get the bar up. Similar to how safari has their bar at the bottom of the screen come up when it is a good swipe down not a small one. I am not 100% happy but I can say I am more than glad to have an app for my home city. I give, at the moment, a 4-star. I would have given a 4.5 star, but that’s how it works. I would happily change the rating to a possible 5 if minor issues are resolved. If there is someone scrolling debating whether or not this app is good, I can say it’s great to stay notified about our Home, Idaho. If you were reading, I hope I was able to give helpful feedback, to the developers and customers wondering “weather” (ha, I’m so corny) this app is something to get. Thank you for your time.
