ASDA Scan & Go

This app used to be reasonably reliable. My local Asda is fairly small and doesn’t have any hand-held devices so have to use phone to Scan and Go and apart from poor mobile signal in the middle of the store, meaning sometimes had to scan items once you’d moved a couple of aisles there was generally no problem (although sometimes it tells you it can’t scan item due to signal then when you rescan it adds the item twice so you have to keep your eye on it!). It seems to have been getting problematic recently, logging you out as you go to pay being the biggest bugbear which is so annoying as you’ve generally packed your shopping into your bags as you go around the store, so then have to unpack it all again. I got a new iPhone 15 a couple of weeks ago and it’s running iOS 17.1.1 - since then when I open the app it asks which store you’re at, then when you press ‘Start shopping’ the app shuts down. I have logged out and back in again, deled the app and reinstalled both before and after the update 3 days ago, but still no change. It shouldn’t be too complicated for you to sort it as several people have logged this as an issue now!

Got a developer response regarding below tonight 15 sept 2023 - stating they had issues but hopefully now fixed and to have a look and gave me a direct contact - I opened the app and it’s no longer frozen and shows stores - I’ll check it when I next go to Asda upgraded to 3 stars for the prompt response. Will update again once I’ve been in store. According to t he latest update today 13 sept 2023 it doesn’t work - there are no Asda stores according to the app and I’m stood in one! Yet it always worked - was in yesterday and it worked but not anymore - reinstalling doesn’t work you can’t even sign out even when it’s been reinstalled and I cleared all cookies too nothing - what a joke it apps work stop changing them then they don’t work!

Today I visited my local store, that I shop regularly for over 8 years and I used the app as all handsets were out of charge, I scanned my shopping as usual but when arrived at checkout the lady had to re-scan all my trolley as the first item she scanned had not been scanned. I was confused but thought maybe I missed it, only to find out that nearly half of my shopping had not been scanned. I was extremely shocked as I had not noticed any fault during my shopping, all the items scanned well and I added extra quantities for the multiple items I bought. I’ve payed for all my shopping (£200 +) and she called security, the security man told me that because there were so many items not scanned they would have to ban me from the store as they considered that I tried to steal half of my shopping. Im still gobsmacked with the whole thing and starting to doubt my sanity! I asked the manager to check the cctv footage or point me what items were not scanned but he just told me to email the customer services if I wanted to try to have the ban lifted. I DO NOT SHOP LIFT! I have now asked the customer service online to see if they can check what items I have scanned through the app and see if I can prove that I did scan everything I put in my trolley.
