Natural way to wake up

The Casper Glow light is great, although I do wish it started just a little dimmer upon waking. I resolved this by placing the light further away fro my bed. The light provides a much more gentle waking experience than the traditional alarm. I find that if I am dreaming or in a deeper stage of sleep it will not wake me until I come back into a lighter stage of sleep. This helps met to wake up in a more natural way and leaves me feeling more refreshed and energized throughout the day. The long wake time function on the app aids with that experience. Although the app is good, it does need some minor improvements. There needs to be an ability to snooze the light (rather than just pausing the current brightness) either via a pop up on your phone or by pushing the pause button on the glow light. The ability to adjust the snooze time would be great too. I would also like to see the option for a longer wake time so that the light stays dimmer for longer upon waking. Lastly, the dimmer functionality for wake and sleep should be separate. Overall the light works great and the app functions well, it just needs a few minor tweaks to make it next level. I would recommend the light if you can get it on sale.

Incredible product that deserves more attention

These lights are awesome and are full of potential to do more. Some reviews criticize these lights as not being “smart” enough, but in day-to-day use, they’re truly great and have almost everything I need. With that said, after using them daily for a few years, there are some basic things that could be refined. It’s a bummer that the software hasn’t been touched in over a year.My most desired feature is to control the full range of brightness with the app. I have to manually dim each light in order to access the bottom range of brightness. Or if they’re dimmed already, I cannot access the maximum range of brightness. The feels more like a bug than a feature. Not a huge deal if you think about it in passing, but when you have multiple lights and use them daily, the friction accumulates.Next up: Would love for the default brightness to either be lower or for this to be a setting that I can control. There are many times where I’d like light, but don’t need the brightness of aircraft landing lights flooding my room. There are workarounds, like picking up the light and twisting, but I have multiple lights and sometimes want to do this from my phone. While we’re at it, here’s another feature I’d love: a “Wind-Down” setting, opposite of “Wake-Up,” where I can set the lights to turn on at a specific time (better yet: sundown) and have them dim to fully shutdown several hours later when I’m ready to sleep.I highly recommend these lights and hope to see more iterative improvements.

Doesn’t Quite Behave as Expected

The Glow’s sunset/sunrise is a nice FEATURE, but is overemphasized IMO. Casper really want you to use these as sleep/wake tools but they are also really good smart, portable lamps. But they should A) make them more usable as basic smart lights and B) surface the most common controls. Suggestions: 1. Allow differentiation between days of the week. Currently the alarm is 7 days a week or nothing! 2. App should ALWAYS be able to control the lights. Once a “sunrise” starts, the lights sometimes become uncontrollable via the app and you can only physically operate them (inconvenient if not at your bedside). 3. IMO the app’s home page (or even Quick Actions) should surface the following to the VERY top and at least optionally override scheduled behavior: on/off, brightness slider, cancel sunrise, and snooze sunrise. Using one’s lights shouldn’t require sub-menus 4) If turning on manually via the app, auto Dimming timer should be opt-in rather than opt-out (ie hitting the “Pause” button). Sometimes I want them on for a few hours. My 2 cents. The hardware is great but it takes some head scratching to understand their behavior; getting them to behave like “normal” lights is hard to achieve as-is.
