I have purchased Jura Z10 because of the advertised Siri integration and smart functionality in general because I wanted to automate coffee brewing with my morning alarm and Shortcuts. Unfortunately, Jura smart functions are completely useless. Machine turns off automatically and you have to turn it on manually and wait for the rinse to complete with no possibility for remote power on, so no automation is actually possible. Also, Siri “integration” requires you to open the app and use your hands in order to actually start the brewing process which makes the brewing impossible to be triggered by the voice only. Because of this, created Siri Shortcut can’t be used with HomePod. When Shortcut is triggered from HomePod it tells you to look at your phone where you have to tap in the app in order to start brewing. Every single thing from Jura’s “smart” options is just completely wrong and useless. Their developers, UX designers and decision makers involved with this should be fired. Money wasted… I have to add that machine itself is really good and makes great coffee, even though it has nothing to do with this horrible app. EDIT: As instructed here I did write an email to Jura, but never got any kind of response from them.
We’ve had the juraZ10 for just over a year. We downloaded the app after the purchase and it has been consistently functional for navigating the Jura machine while it’s on. The app makes it easy to make a double drink when you are away from the machine, preventative maintenance and view lifetime count. Machine has to be on in order for the app to load information. Overall, it has worked great for us.
When considering the Chura products, I was initially disappointed to learn that most of their new models do not have tactile buttons, but rather only touchscreen panel. Touchscreen panels for blind or vision impaired people prove to be nearly impossible to operate. I discovered that the model E8 does in fact have some flat panel, tactile buttons, so I purchased that model. First, I was absolutely delighted with the product itself, and my ability to make coffee using the tactile buttons rather than the touchscreen panel. Subsequently, I discovered that Chura has a mobile application called JOE. This application is brilliant! Not only is it well designed, but it was also built to be completely compatible with iPhone, and Apple voice accessibility. Using the app, I have nearly full functionality of the machine. I would encourage Jura to consider the needs of low vision or blind, or people who have mobility challenges in operating any device with only touchscreen functionality. The application certainly does the trick for me, and hopefully for many others. I give The your company kudos for building, not only a great machine, but also a great application with full or nearly full assessability for low vision or blind people. Congratulations on a great product.
