A vast improvement on the original game. The story goes back and forth between the ancient past and the present, effectively telling the “Origin” (which would have made the first game way more easier to follow) while coinciding with the continuation/resolution of the main story. Everything that was vague or confusing about the first game is cleared up rather nicely, which lets you appreciate this game a great deal more. The gameplay and animation is far smoother, and the voice acting is terrific. The “focus” is a little wonky when inspecting items/people, but it’s more of a distraction than a hindrance. Needing to switch back & forth between multiple protagonists is a fun gameplay mechanic, although the timing toward the end could have been a little better. The black/adult humor is still there, and it never seems forced. Also, the game is MUCH longer than the original. Some of the puzzles will be a bit frustrating to even seasoned adventure gamers, and the “dialogue trees” could stand some improving. However, all in all this is a great game that I would recommend to anyone. One of those sequels that you wish you could have played without needing bother with the subpar original.
Played first game and loved it, but it was a bit short, or more like what most point and click games turn out to be 4-5 hours. But this game was .99¢ and I played for at least 12 hours, it is an amazing game, I barely had any crashes, maybe 2 the entire game. One thing to know both games are adult oriented games, and have extremely dark subject matter, but I love that type of a game, so this was perfect for me. First game and this one are you playable without the other game, also though origins does a great job of reiterating what happened in the first game, just to give new players a starting point. For reals this is an amazing piece of work, for a 8-12 hour game(depending on how much dialogue you want to read) it is never tedious, and storytelling/script is just amazingly well done. Just buy it already you won’t be sorry. If I had any cons, it would be they didn’t explain the mechanics all that well, but after looking at a walkthrough for the first main puzzle I had it figured out, and didn’t need the walkthrough anymore, just a bit of a unique of an approach to the puzzle problem solving, and the developers could have explained it a bit better. SPOILERS.... You have to find sometimes upto 4 objects, or ideas, and then use them all to solve a problem, or is really fun once you figure it out, and it is used a bunch so you have to figure it out lol, have fun
I have been enjoying this game more than almost any adventure game I've played - it's up there with the classics for me. I especially like that it is not as violent as the first Yesterday, though there's some disturbing content implied in the flashbacks. Graphics are gorgeous, puzzles v intuitive (little need for walk through, this is a game that makes you feel smart), and the story is genuinely engaging in itself. But ... it crashed every 30 minutes or so for a while, and now it's up to every 2 minutes and is thus unplayable. Please fix, I really would love to finish!
