Toyota Dashcam Viewer

They keep saying those that upgraded to iOS 16 crashes the program. The App Store says a fix is coming, doesn’t seem like it!!

So much room for improvement with this app. This is used in the factory dash cam that came with my 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Viewing videos on my phone while connected to the dashcam’s WiFi is the only real option since taking the card in and out is a pain. When using the app, there is no preview to see what I’m downloading, so I have to guess based on the time stamp. Downloading each video is slow (it takes 28-30 seconds to download a 38 second video clip). This wouldn’t be so bad if I could see a preview of the video to know if I’m downloading one from when I’m parked, vs driving, etc. What is typical is that I have to go through 5-10 video clips just to find the one I am looking for. I can’t see a preview of any of those and can only see the entire clip, which means I have to download each of those clips individually. It would also be helpful to be able to select a chunk of videos and download them all together, then I could look through them later on my phone to choose the one I’m trying to find.

I got this app to work only a couple of times in the *almost* year that I have had my new 4Runner. The fact that it will only work when the car is running is ridiculous. How are the videos not sent to “the cloud” to be viewed later? So if my car is in an accident and won’t run then I have to rely on the memory card. Kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. Let alone the fact that I am getting the same error as others trying to get the app to even open and connect at all. I loved the idea of having the dash cam built right into my car but I literally can’t use the app. Hope it’s improved.. would be a really useful tool!
