As noted, the hi-res image only saves w/ transparent background. What’s the point of a pro subscription if you can’t export as you designed? You have to go into photos, select the image, go into a layout program and add fussily add back—if you can match it—the background color you designed the image with. And even if you do that, there can be artifact colors introduced from the copy and paste, so lots of touch up time required if you want to go forward. These transparent files can’t be placed into Illustrator without massive color distortions. I should’ve tested the Pro subscription instead buying outright. Waste of money. Wow.
I’ve been creating digital art for almost two years and there isn’t anything out there quite like Whorl. It can create the most complex structures to the very minimal. I’d recommend it to any digital artist and anyone who likes to play with shapes. I had an issue with saving the high resolution image and contacted the developer. I was quickly replied to and the issue was solved in just a few days. Not only a cool app but a cool developer who cares about his product.
It's a cute app and fun to play with for a few minutes but frankly if Adobe can't get this pro artist to pay for a subscription, an iOs app is never going to. Would I have paid a couple bucks for it? Probably, but there are many awesome apps in the same genre that don't require a commitment to a subscription and with enough scope to have significantly less chance of getting boring quickly. I also would never buy an app that won't show me what their "high resolution" output actually looks like before I make the purchase. I've been burned by that promise more than once over my many iPad-using years.
