Gatewise Multifamily-Access

I use Gatewise at an apartment building with dozens of doors and gates, but I only use about 5. However, I am forced to scroll up and down a massive list of door buttons to find those same 5 every day. A simple solution would be a “bookmark” feature. Something like, press and hold on your chosen buttons to add them to a section at the top of the list for easy access. It would be a game changer! Please add a bookmark feature (especially for users like me who cannot do the Siri commands), I am begging :)

While the app does exactly what it needs to do, it is frustrating to have to go through multiple clicks to reach what you need every time you want to open a specific gate. The app needs to offer the ability to make a widget with a specific gate opening. Also needs to add usability on an Apple Watch (preferably with 1-tap access to a specific gate as well). While I understand the option to use Siri is available, it is a significant battery drain to leave Siri on, as well as a security issue. Please add an Apple Watch function! There are many instances when people have their hands full and can't access their phone (including the fact that in some cities it is illegal to have your phone in your hand while your vehicle is running and/or not parked in a designated parking spot), as such, alternative options to open a specific gate are vitally important.

Are you a property manager considering this technology? Don’t. I’ll never even consider living in another apartment with app-only access and I’ll tell you why. The idea of opening the gate to your home with an app sounds great until it’s the only option. Without any sort of backup options for the all-too-common “what if” scenarios, this “innovative technology” is inherently flawed. Hinging people’s access to their place of dwelling on a server isn’t just dangerous, it’s sheer technical stupidity at its finest. This doesn’t solve anything, it just adds unnecessary burden to people just trying to get into their homes. Even if you just open the gates if the servers are down, guess what, you’ve just defeated the purpose of the gate! This app is plagued with crashes and server issues, which is just great. You now also have to be inconvenienced any time someone needs access to your apartment. Your s/o who doesn’t live with you, your dog walker, your cleaning person. I’ve even seen the POLICE get caught up behind this thing. Busy at work? Too bad! Not only does your access to your home depend on the function of a server on the other side of the country, your access to your packages and paid-for amenities also depends on it. It also rides on the assumption that every single person living in an apartment complex MUST have a smart phone by now. God forbid the 80-year-old woman next door be able to easily access her home. These gates should come with a back-up call box, passcode entry AND RFID fobs. This entire concept is beyond ridiculous and I’ll NEVER live in another complex that decides to implement it.
