I’ve been using this app virtually every weekday morning for the last 6 months or so. While I’ve tried hard to warm up to it, the overall experience has remained very painful. For starters, I am not able to set defaults on anything I do. So, every morning that I use it, I have to painstakingly select a bunch of options (size, milk type, foam amount, etc) from different screens for my coffee order from scratch. Not only can I not define a standard order, the app does not learn from all this data either. It’s not like there aren’t any examples to draw inspiration for this type of app either. The app of a prominent Seattle-based coffee chain in the US certainly seems to recognize that we are creatures of habit, and my use of their app is certainly much smoother. Then, to select where I want to pick up my order, I get to navigate a map of the entire United States to find the same shop I want. Zoom here, zoom there, oops overshoot, zoom back etc. Every single day. There appears to be no way to set a default for this either, and at one point, the app decided to create a ‘favorite’ that was half a continent away from where I reside. I could not find a way to remove this non-favorite ‘favorite’. You might be wondering, then, how an app of this kind would even pick up 4.6 stars on the app store. Perhaps a clue can be found in the final order confirmation screen. On that screen you are invited to ‘write a review on the app store if your experience with the app was positive’, or similar. If your experience was not positive, you seem to be steered toward another option that reads ‘please tell us how to improve’. This apparent attempt at review filtering seems unethical to me.
Not familiar with using apps in general but I was going to this spot three times a week over dinner. Needed to get sandwiches for 3. One sandwich was striped down so much that counter ordering was hard and confusing. The app made it easier and they always have my order ready to pick up ahead of time. First time was quite hard as I didn’t understand the format. Now I am a pro and it saves me time, something that I lack these days.
My 87th Birthday was yesterday but I have stood in lin years at your downtown o in San Diego thinking how lucky all your busy YOUNG customers are to make their orders online. Yesterday the young woman on the counter encouraged me to pull out my old iPhone 6, go online and load your new ap. Today I used it; it was easy and seamless She will have made me a more regular customer. Thank you. Kids3!!!
