Reviews: What People Think About Nirvana for GTD

Rating: 4/5
I’d like to dub Nirvana the Things3 killer. It has a beautiful and minimalist UI. (And the initial investment isn’t too steep to try it out). The concepts are just so easy to understand and implement strait out of the box. I was getting todo overwhelm with other task manager apps. Constant reminders, overdo , etc. I think nirvana keeps me more balanced when it comes to not crear a productivity toxic environment. I know many people keep complaining about alerts in nirvana. I actually find it peaceful not to be alerted. If I really need a reminder I use my phones native reminder app. But for my tasks I just open the app and look at my focus. It really is task nirvana.
My only recommendation would a quick entry to the inbox. Something where I can quickly input what’s on my mind.
Thanks team.

Are you nerdy about organizing your life? Will you spend hours building a system and workflow in order to save yourself just a few minutes every time you touch a certain task? Do you like to have things in their right place?
This app is designed specifically around the GTD method, and in my experience with trialing all sorts of options out there I believe Nirvana does the best job following the system created by David Allen. For those new to GTD, as I am, the process takes a unique approach to task management which requires an initial investment of time and consideration to lay out a map for how to best integrate it into your life. For instance, I spent a full weekend working on integrating it into my email systems (Outlook Exchange for work and Gmail at home) as well as building a system that fits my needs within Nirvana, and today I continue to find ways to tweak the system for increasing productivity. Read or listen to the book first, otherwise this app may be confusing for you.

If you are a GTD enthusiast you will no-doubt love the beautiful design and simplicity of this app. It is the most GTD-friendly to-do app I have found (and I have tried A LOT of apps). Unfortunately within the last few months it has become unusable. It no longer accurately syncs and updates when I mark something as “done” or deleted after I close the app and open it again. It is inconsistent and not always the same items that “come back” being done/deleted. Needless to say, this is very frustrating. I upgraded to the paid version since I enjoy the app so much but sadly the issue has not resolved. I have tried upgrading my phone, I have uninstalled/reinstalled, reset the app, tried different devices, turned off/on sync, stopped using sync altogether, and the problem remains despite all of these remedies. If developers fix this critical issue I will come back and update this review. Thanks!
