Peanuts: Snoopy Town Tale

I downloaded this app over a year ago. Initially it was fun and great to play. However, to advance levels, obtain Peanuts character cards, and obtain different items in the game’s market costs a lot of money. It’s all about money now! It’s so sad. This app could be a really great app, but no one wants to play an app where they have to spend money constantly, or watch ads all the time to advance in the game. It feels like I will never get past level 37. All the items in the market, the characters and their houses, none of it seems attainable at how much they cost. And unfortunately the blue inventory backpack fills up very quickly, so items have to be obtained, which costs money, to finally get the characters to play out scenes in locations, in order to win the item required to get more space in the inventory backpack. The only thing I really like that makes me want to open the app is the A Dog’s Coffee House theme that’s going on right now. I do love it! It’s cute and fun to play. I wish there were an option where we could select one of the seasonal themes to apply to the setting of the game’s appearance because I would select the Dog Coffee House theme all year round. Unfortunately the items of this theme, such as the barista and waiter/waitress seasonal character cards are all very expensive.

I’ve been playing for 9 months or so. I was going to quit around Christmas but the storyline and events kept me coming back and I eventually started buying characters because they enhanced the fun I was already having. However, the events lately have become more and more about getting us to spend money in order to do well in the event. This latest change, which revamped how the entire event runs is the worst! It is set up to be very in your face as to what you are missing out on if you don’t spend money. I get that you are a business but you have gone too far to pressure players into spending money. You already get ad revenue from the videos we watch. The in-game purchases have constant buttons on the screen that block the play area. And now this. I had gotten to where I was purchasing the character every event simply because I was having fun with it. I’m not quite ready to throw in the towel as many in our Facebook group have. Not quite...but if the blatant greediness continues I’m gone.

This game should come with a warning to back it up daily so you can restore it when it crashes (which is frequently). It has some major flaws. First, once you've built the town and acquired all the characters, it is boring. There are not enough scenarios to keep it interesting. Second, it is incredibly hard to obtain enough beagle bucks (dollar bills) to purchase the items needed to accomplish scenarios, unless you pay real money to buy them. To add insult to injury, the action boxes are set up in such a way that it is far too easy to spend those hard-gained dollars accidentally. Many users have asked the game developers to add in a confirmation for such actions, and the developers have said they are working on it, but that has not been provided despite numerous updates since I've been playing the game (about 9 months now). UPDATE: I tried this game again after a long hiatus. After a week, the game would not open after showing the Pixowl logo and would bump me back to my home screen. I couldn’t play the game, and after 3 days of trying to get help from customer support, I was told that if I had a backup of the game they *might* be able to restore it fairly close to the level of achievements I had attained; if not, I would have to delete the game and reinstall it, back at the beginning! I love the concept and the graphics, but this game is a huge disappointment and I cannot recommend this game to anyone—and I’m a major Snoopy fan.
