GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

I downloaded this to learn how to play Gwent better so I can stop losing in the Witcher 3 (lol). Instead, i ended up really enjoying this version and find it very fun despite facing some pretty stacked decks. There’s so many resources online to learn decks, but I have fun just putting them together and seeing which cards synergies work well. I also like seeing what other players use and learning to craft decks from them. I really hope the reviews saying that support for this game is going down are wrong. I just started to fall in love with it and I think it would be a massive shame to toss out such a well designed card game. Could it be improved? Absolutely. Should it be discarded? No way!! I understand how niche the Witcher is, but you have to remember Witcher 4 is coming out and there is the Netflix show. There’s plenty of ways for people to find this game and I’m sure they would continue to if the game is kept alive and supported. If CD Projekt Red doesn’t want to, I guarantee some other company would jump at the chance. It’s not every day that you can design a functional card game, let alone one as fun and unique as Gwent. At least make a new version of you kill this one. And please let us carry cards over too, because people really put time and money into earning them. Cheers for the fun game and here is to hoping they realize what they have here and continue to support it.

Great game, new content and card mechanics have been nice, just have noticed weird performance after most recent update. During matches my player tab with the dialogue choices (bottom left tab) sometimes disappears, though I can tell I have tapped it because the shadow on the board behind it moves out as if it were actually there. It’s just invisible sometimes. Occasionally I can see outlines or graphic elements of the coin on the right side of the screen while the match is loading. Has been a thing since 10.7 or so, but isn’t a big deal at all - just figured it may be worth pointing out. After finding a match and first being shown the board, the game sits there for quite sometime before the mulligan screen comes up. I’m on a fast, fiber network and haven’t ever had an issue with this before. Seems to happen about 40% of the time. The matchmaking level spread seems to have either gotten really wide or is broken. I’ve been up against players 5 or 6 levels ahead of me, when usually the opponent is within + or -1 level. Not sure this is the best place to buy report, but I hope this is helpful somehow! Something might be up with the servers. 2 out of 3 matches today have ended immediately after the game loads the board and draws the first set of cards. I’m getting an error message that there is an issue with the client and the game cannot be continued, then shows the “defeated” screen. Very odd, and I hope these aren’t registering as actual losses! Thanks for developing such a great game, props to y’all for keeping it interesting and fun.

To start this is an amazing card game similar to others like magic the gathering, however the game has been knocked down for the 83 and below crowd that still can’t ti their shoes. I started playing this game in beta and even invested in packs. I had not played for a while being my computer has been down, but when i noticed it was coming to ios i quickly grabbed it. I still can’t emphasis enough on how good this game was, there were no contenders imo one of my personal favorites was playing premium sirens with werewolves for bloodmoon effect an Minura was a blast. That is all gone now and I have heard it was to make the game more appealing to the broader community. I honestly believe the reason for a smaller audience was not because the game was to complicated, it was actually alot less complicated than magic the gathering before. There are a great number of people who love these kinds of game however it has always been a niche market but appealing to the plebs isn’t the way to go. The plebs will drop a game like this when they see the next shiny thing and completely forget about it. If the game has to be kept less complicated then just make a pleb mode, but please give us the old stuff back. This will more than likely fall on deaf ears however can’t say I didn’t make an effort. I gave it 5* only because I know what it was before and can still be, coupled with being a forum guy on the original Witcher game in the beginning I have loved this crew for over a decade.
