Of course, developers make money either through subscriptions or ads- that’s life. However, I think the placement of ads here is a bit thoughtless. Video ads will pop up shortly after you tap to read a brief “learn it” course explanation article. It would make more sense to serve ads at the end of or before a lesson, but shoehorning an ad while I’m trying to read explanatory text borders on rude and disrespectful. There’s also no expiration time for the ad, as in, if you close the help text and then immediately reopen it, it triggers another video ad, even though you just watched it seconds ago. Maybe a timer to prevent more ads for a certain period of time might make sense instead of knowing I’ll have to watch an ad every time I want to reference the help text. May as well take screenshots of it. I’m also unsure if it’s a fault of the app developer or the ads themselves being served, but the X to close the help text is in the same position as the “skip/close” button for the ad, the hit box for which is often difficult to select, so if you repeatedly tap to close the ad, you sometimes inadvertently close the article. Which, again, means you have you watch another ad. It’s too bad that they don’t offer a lifetime/pay-once option; I’d probably pay more to remove the ads permanently rather than subscribing, the content seems well written, it’s just littered with poorly placed ads.

In my many years of improving my German this is the only app I have found that is worth using for testing and perfecting one’s understanding of German grammar. The content of the app is high quality and the interface is clean and intuitive. The only feature that this app is missing is a space repetition algorithm that re-tests you on the particular topics where you need to improve. For example, if you get a certain declination wrong, the app currently ask you to repeat this question in the next round. What is missing is that it’s not asking you to re-do this exercise again in a few days to strengthen this learning. This is my only wish in terms of future updates. Otherwise, the app is perfect.

I don’t usually write reviews but I love this app. The “word of the day” widget is cute. I’ve been looking for an app that can give me a comprehensive guide on German grammar, as I struggle with it (especially the accusative case and sentence structure). I’m downloading the Spanish app you made as well. I have a suggestion- do you think you can make a French grammar app? It’s another language on my list and so far it has been eluding me. I recommend this app if you need a more in depth look into the language. Use in unison with other apps like Duolingo- Duolingo helps with practice in real life scenarios and this app helps you actually understand the language rules. Love! 🖤❤️💛
