I’ve been with Fundrise since it was rolled out. I was intrigued and curious to grow another personal source of income/revenue. But really I also wanted access to real estate investments that Fundrise purported to offer. These are real locations as Fundrise is descriptive about where they have investments and I’ve seen a couple in person. All I can say is I’ve been very satisfied since. While my account is not huge, it has certainly grown to an amount that can have a real positive impact for me. There have been some downsides but only because of wider economic forces. Yet overall there has been nothing but positive yields. This is NOT a get rich quick vehicle. Never has been, never will. This is an investment(s) vehicle. Investing takes time. This does not happen in 1-2 years. This is a invest an amount and let it grow for 5+ years. 99% of people fail to realize this and wonder why the 1% are where they are.
I’ve been vested in Fundrise since February 2021, so one year in. I knew what I was dipping my toes in when I did the research behind Fundrise. I love investing I do stocks, bonds, mutual funds, utma, crypto and so on. I’m just big on diversification. Investing isn’t cool where I come from so I’m very much self taught and very active in my own personal finances. I’m also not the highest earner but I believe in putting Penny’s away. So with Fundrise I looked at it as the grandfather of my investment vehicles. The slow long haul granddaddy. And that it is. It’s very stable so look at it that way. Also for people who are into reits and real estate in general I found this to be a great way to get some money in those terms. Just know you have to keep that money locked a way for a while. I have only put in $900 and that’s about all for now. I plan to keep the money away for the 5-6 years . Just be patient and know that you don’t need $500 to start with Fundrise like it was required when I signed up. You can play around with just a few dollars to see if you like it or feel more comfortable having that amount locked away .
I was very excited about the idea FundRise when I first heard about it, and have been really blown away by how well it is managed. The reporting and disclosures are terrific and highly professional. I am a licensed CPA in NC and am the Controller for a multi-billion dollar endowment. I saw how well private equity has performed for our fund and wanted to find a way to participate on a personal level with my own investments. FundRise at this point is at the front of the line in terms of providing alternative investment options for everyday investors who don’t want all of their assets tied up in public markets. Other investing sites I’ve seen (YieldStreet, Alumni Ventures Group for example) only allow accredited investors into their funds, so basically you have to be a multi-millionaire to participate. FundRise is truly the only option I know of at this point open to anyone who is serious about building a diversified passive income and growth portfolio (outside of overpriced and lower return public markets). Hoping they read this and consider expanding into other alternative asset classes like buyouts, venture capital, and private lending. The eREIT fund is awesome though and I will continue adding when I can so that my entire net worth is susceptible to the daily whims and volatility of the public markets.
