Flippy Floors

Flippy Floors used to be a great game, but ever since they released update 3.0, they completely flipped the script to something worse. First of all, they removed the crank system and replaced it with a “relaxing” one tap turn style. Sure, it might be relaxing, but it ruins the classic play style and makes the game feel a little more boring. Secondly, they removed many obstacles so that the only ones left could be destroyed by the new shield mechanic. Not only does this make the game less exciting, but it also makes it less appealing, since it’s just the same circle-shaped red barrier. No more spinning spike platforms. No more spike strips. Just the same bland obstacle over and over again. Third, they replaced the world system with an endless mode, taking out the star collecting mechanic. Sure, it might have been somewhat pointless, but it made the game more thrilling to complete. Now the only thing you can collect is coins, which gets a little monotonous after a while. Maybe if the stars were brought back and they added a shop where you could spend stars, then the stars would have use. Finally, the animation for completing a level is drab. The old animation looked visually pleasing, but now they have an animation that’s unexciting and somewhat makes it feel not worth it to complete a level. All in all, I think Voodoo needs to either reverse this update or make it so that the crank system and the one-touch system are separate modes, because what they have now is an unexciting concept.

I have done my fair share of downloading those stupidly intriguing games from Instagram- most of which are by voodo. Their games are always aesthetically pleasing but their games ultimately lack depth of just get boring. This game though I have stuck to. I like it when these games give me a challenge. This one in particular has a few that I like: getting the three stars every level, speed runs, and the nifty balls you get for completing stages within their certain criteria. ALTHOUGH... I would like it if there were more of these challenges, and less ads. TO ANYONE LOOKING TO AVOID THESE ADS: Turn off cellular data for the app- thank me later. Otherwise this game is great. Voodoo, make great games like this WITH depth- most your games lack depth.

I have been playing Flippy Floors for weeks. For me, it stood out among all other games for one very particular reason: No ads. It’s VERY rare nowadays where you can download a free game from the App Store, without the hassle of dealing with ads every minute. For over 700 levels, I have been able to play Flippy Floors ad free. However, today there was an update. The graphics are a little better, there’s an additional control option, and...... now there are ads. To be completely honest, this app is not worth it now that there are advertisements. I’m on level 714 now and it kills me to have come this far and quit without knowing how many levels there were. Also, a few weeks back, a “1, 2, or 3” star option was added. Which for me made it more challenging, as I would try to get 3 stars on every level. You’ll notice that throughout the levels, you collect these stars, and you also collect coins. The total amount of coins and stars you have will be shown on the top of the screen. As of right now there is no reason for having them, as you can’t spend them in game for anything such as special balls, or purchasing a ‘second chance’ with them. However, with the newly added advertisements, you can now watch a 30 second ad for a second chance if you die in the middle of a level. If there is an option to purchase an “Ad Free” version of the game for $0.99 or possibly $1.99 I would most likely purchase it to continue playing. However, until then, this is the end of the road for me.
