About 3 weeks into monitoring 16 circuits and the two entry mains. It is flipping cool! Installation was easy and app setup went flawless the very first attempt. It is amazing how much data is at your disposal, and the sorting options ranges from live data, to a year or more historical. There is no lag time to the live mode data logging, if you flip on a light switch, it shows in 1-2 seconds. It will be great for electrical consumption trouble shooting, or deciding if an appliance upgrade is worth the cost and payback time frame. With no moving parts and low current draws, the system should last a long time. It appears to be very well made and thought out. I’m a data person, so with a bit of time, i am becoming acclimated to what circuits typically draw and will be able to spot abnormalities, etc. You can line up the timeline to your utility billing period and set the price per KWh for accurate cost analysis versus your utility billing period. Would be super helpful for those trying to determine solar system size and this can also measure electricity generated with solar, etc. My Honeywell smart thermostat was recognized by the app, and can also be controlled through the app. Buy a few smart outlets of theirs and you can really go to town with data logging on specific outlets. A chimp can install it, I don’t have any negatives to report other than think about the data storage system and see if that bothers you (along with the hundred of thousands of other people utilizing this technology. This app tells me so much about my home and is surprisingly accurate to the power companies meter. After just a couple of weeks I’ve learned that my washing machine breaker isn’t being used, but in reality it is actually on the same breaker as my dishwasher. There is a wire coming out of the washer breaker but has never had any power. Next I learned that changing my furnace filter, actually reduced the wattage on my blower. I just assumed it was constant power but it actually reduced it by 50 watts after replacing out the 3 month old filter. My TV was having more and more issues with streaming. My wife thought that it was the WiFi but after I installed this monitor I found that the TV was always pulling about 12 watts, even when off.? I found that the TV was never truly shutting all of the way down so I put a smart plug on it and cycle the power at night. Not only does it stop pulling power after the plug turns back on, but now the TV does a full start up there first time it’s turned on and the streaming problems are so much better. It just needed a full reboot, basically like a computer. The app is very user friendly and shows me everything at any level of detail that I could ask for and so much more. It can be a little glitchy sometimes until I blow it out of memory and load it fresh but it has already helped me in so many ways including verifying my solar is working and feeding the house the right amount. I show it off to everyone and highly recommend it.

App keeps getting better! Last update included Amps unit! Hardware is best value on the market right now. My power panel is a long way from my router so the hardware would not stay connected. After working with Marty in customer support, it was determined that my Wi-Fi was too weak at that location. I independently verified this diagnosis with WiFi SweetSpot app and worked to upgrade my network. I tried a couple of Wi-Fi repeater/extenders but they still caused connectivity issues. I resolved all connectivity issues when adding Xfinity XFi Pods (mesh). Mesh is the way to go. Solved connectivity issues I had with a remote Ring doorbell also. I use two of the eight current sensors to monitor the power supplied by my 16 Kw Generac whole house standby generator. Since it auto starts, when we are not home, I can now see when and how long the generator ran. It would be useful if emporia could ID generator sensors, send an alert when power supply transfers to the generator and allow an alternative energy cost (based on natural gas cost & generator efficiency) when the generator runs. I look forward to future improvements!
