I appreciate having a central place to access clean comedy and have enjoyed the shows on this app. I have not had any technical issues with the app. The content could (should) be updated more to justify the subscription price (currently $5.99/month which is steep for what you get compared to other streaming services). The app does not visually indicate what was already watched which makes it very hard to find fresh videos once you have had it for a while. I constantly start things only to realize a few minutes in that I have watched before and have to go back to hunt & peck until I eventually find something new to me or give up and go to another app. I would love to have a way to filter out what I have already seen, or at least have a small icon or something that shows that I have already watched a particular video. It would also be helpful to be able to view / leave star reviews.
To maybe the two people who will ever see this review, let me start out by saying this is an amazing app and an amazing company. Despite so many obstacles like Covid-19 and law suits, Dry Bar and VidAngel have pushed through it all to deliver quality comedies. I’ve been using this app almost daily for my long commutes to work. I have watched a vast majority of all their episodes and had a lot of clips and specials saved in my library. I love the amount of attention and care each episode gets and above all: the clean comedy. I don’t have anything to worry about when i’m on the road, no skipping the bad parts required for this app. I have to note that there is sometimes a very rare occurrence of a comedian swearing, HOWEVER: these are very minor swears and Dry Bar can’t control everything; so I fault them in no way for that. **Now this next part is ABSOLUTELY important to you, person who may download this app, so listen carefully.** There was recently a new update called Dry Bar Comedy +. Dry Bar now does a paid subscription. In return, you get access to all of their great content, including downloads. Does this mean you should turn away from it all? Definitely not. Dry Bar is a young company that produces profesional level recordings and performances. Please please please trust me when I say that you are absolutely getting your money’s worth. They are a champion of the comedian world, supporting and promoting live CLEAN comedy. The more you listen to these comedians you start learn that they take such good care of them and people they bring in and deserve every bit of money they ask for. So congrats to you, person who’s reading this, you’ve made it to the end of my rant. I have followed VidAngel and Dry Bar for a long time now. It’s worth it.
Watched quite a few of the shows on Facebook, decided to get the app. The comedians are hysterical and I’m so glad there are so many to choose from. HOWEVER the app is incredibly slow and buggy. It rarely ever lets me skip ahead (which I have to do when I try to continue watching a video where I left off...so it starts you over and then is so buggy it won’t let me fast forward), I attempted the laugh button—no go. And most of the time I can’t even watch full screen because it won’t convert and just plays a small screen with the pause button and back/forward a few seconds buttons over the screen...which I can rarely ever get to go away. And then if I want to pause it...it doesn’t pause despite the massive pause button that lives over the clip almost at all times (and if it goes away, it’s a fluke, it seems). I’m so disappointed. This app has some great potential, but there needs to be some changes to make it actually usable and with watching it here and not just on Facebook watch—which is where I will be watching the comedy from now on. (Maybe I’ll check back in occasionally to see if anything has improved...I hope so!) —iPhone user. I do have an iPhone 6, so maybe that has something to do with it...but if I’ve updated the latest version of software and I don’t have any issues on any other app, I would hope it’s not necessarily my phone that’s causing issues.
