While Collective is still a fairly new app, I really like it and Iโm excited to see how it evolves. Thereโs already a growing sense of community, and Iโve made a few real connectionsโwhich is more than I can say for most queer social apps. Like many spaces, thereโs a fair amount of shirtless thirst traps on the feed, which can feel a bit repetitive. But beyond that, thereโs a solid group of people genuinely looking for friendship, creativity, and community. The foundation is strong, and with time and thoughtful updates, Collective has the potential to become something really special for queer folks seeking connection beyond the algorithm.
The obvious best part of this app is that it is being developed by and for queer people. Period. But what impresses me the most is the use of modern and fresh social networking tools built into the appโs interface. Features like photo folders, truly hidden like and follower count, a badge on unedited photos, etc. have made sharing content so much more enjoyable for me and honestly I wish other apps (instagram) would take notes. The app also makes it incredibly easy and enjoyable to find NEW people to follow and connect with. There is even a feature to connect with people in ur location without it being creepy and sexual lol. I feel like it is reminiscent of the early tumblr days when the gays were able to curate artistic vision boards while also connecting with like minded queer people whether theyโre near or far. Loveee it.
This app brings together the best of Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter, creating a vibrant and inclusive space that's like no other. Here's why I can't get enough of Collective:๐ Diverse and Inclusive Community:Collective is a true celebration of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. It's not just about gay or lesbian content; it's about embracing every identity under the rainbow. You'll find people from all walks of life here, sharing their stories, art, and experiences in a judgment-free zone.๐ท Instagram-Worthy Visuals:If you love Instagram's aesthetics, you're in for a treat. Collective lets you curate your profile with stunning visuals, and the queer community's creativity shines here.๐ฆ Twitter-Like Conversations:Engaging with other users is a breeze, posting text similar to the bird app but in a super clean aesthetic. Other users can reply both privately (just for the authorโs eyes) or publicly. ๐ Tumblr's Creativity:Remember Tumblr's diverse and creative user base? Collective takes that spirit and runs with it. The aesthetic of the home feed is very reminiscent to Tumblrโs feed. ๐ Spotlighting Underrepresented Voices:Collective champions underrepresented voices, giving a platform to queer creators, activists, and advocates who deserve more recognition.Collective is a true gem in the world of social media. It's not just an app; it's a movement. If you're queer or an ally looking for a space to connect, create, and be yourself, this is the place to be. It's time to join Collective ๐ณ๏ธโ๐โจ
