Great for news etc but still having the same issues with gifting stories that I advised of over 12 months ago and still not fixed even though I was advised it had been. If you don’t want to be ripped off on your 5 gifted stories logout and log back in every time you want to gift a story otherwise it will just spin And and not gift and you lose one gift each time. For example when it resets to 5 stories each month you gift a story and you end up with 3 left instead of 4 and so on.

Just subscribed, adding to my existing subscription to The Australian and then noted that there is no IPad app - just the IPhone app on the IPad - I hate that. Especially when you download the app your IPad. I suppose I should have checked first but instantly regretted signing on for 12 months. Given the apps in the News stable have IPad apps it is very disappointing that there is not dedicated IPad app. I’m never surprised there are problems with Aussie apps in contrast to the overseas apps (WSJ, The Athletic, The Times etc) which run without glitches. Also, so far, most importantly, the articles I’ve read on the site, I’ve then come across them at free sites or at the Australian subscription. It was a rash decision which I regret. I should have gone for the free trial rather than the discount for 12 months.

I’m a fan of the Athletic but always miss the content on Aussie sport. This is a great start but the app needs a bit of work; dark mode and a more reader-focused, typography driven article UI would be nice. Feels like a very stock UI - could be any in app category - rather than a news/reading focused user experience. Compare with the Athletic and the Guardian to see what I mean
