Air Defense Command

Honestly an amazing lil game to play on your phone to kill time with. There are some lil things I don’t really like, but overall still real fun. For example, when you hit a plane and almost destroy it it starts to go up in flames, but this doesn’t count towards enemy deaths or captures at all, and counts as a win for the enemy. It’d be neat if when it goes up in flames it kills or causes like half or a quarter of the crew to ditch/die. The enemy planes do feel a bit tanky at time, but this is mostly because you didn’t hit a good spot, mostly. For example, the really big bombers have a perfect spot right behind the cockpit where if you hit it with a 90mm it instantly destroys it. But, if you hit in the cockpit, it just makes it flame or smoke. That’s pre-shell upgrade. The 37mm feels a bit useless sometimes to be honest. You can hit like 3 out of the 4 (or 6) shots and the smallest fighter-bomber or dive bomber or whatever will shrug it off easily. Either way, despite all my complaints, it’s still super cool. Btw, you can make planes hit each other by shooting a big one, there’s a chance that when it falls it’ll ram into another plane. Got a triple kill one time that way, hit a big bomber at the top which fell into a medium one which hit a small one. Felt awesome.

The game is fun and challenging. I really like the concept that is in the game that rates how much the enemy wants to continue to fight and how much more your people are willing to take before giving up. It is unique and fun to see how those values change between each engagement as you go for victory. I’m giving only 4 out of 5 because the game is fairly linear and once beaten, it is just the same thing again and again. Maybe that is because I don’t have the paid version but it would be nice to start on a later stage or just play a later stage as a standalone where your defenses are better upgraded so it is easier and more satisfying to down the attack force.

This game has been the most fun I've had for a while. I love the world that it's set in, it helps with the astetic of the film grain. Gameplay is just right when it comes to difficulty. I've never been angry when I've lost or empty when I won. The feeling of pulling a country out of hopeless war is the most gratifying experience I've had in Mobile gaming. Ads are pretty much non existent, only happening about 3 times before you finish the game. The night missions are so much fun, I love your AA guns have searchlights. Discovering a heavy bomber while it's almost left your range and shooting down is very satisfying. The news papers are well made as well! (for developer) Just read another review about someone who does not know how close third party ads... Good luck dealing with that man :D
