These plugs may work for some people but I purchased two six months ago and neither have ever worked. I followed the set up instructions including adjusting my modem to 2.4Ghz and although the plugs appear in the app, they do not respond to any commands. I have tried all the fixes on the trouble shooting guide and emailed their support but they just refer back to the troubleshooting guide. I visited their stand at Grand Designs Live but they weren't interested and referred me back to their email support, which I tried again with the same result as previously. It would appear from other reviews that other people have suffered the same or similar problems so you purchase these at your risk.
The idea of these plugs is brilliant and I looked long and hard to find a plug that worked with all of the main intelligent assistants - but the app just lets the whole thing down. When it works, it works well, but it seems to spend more time not working than it does actually working. Devices randomly go unresponsive, you then have difficulty adding them again - it’s just all too fragile. I work in the IT sector so I’d like to think I know my way around technology, but this whole setup just baffles me as to why it keeps packing up. All my other smart plugs just work and keep working. So give them a go if you’re very patient and want to spend hours trying to get it working, but unless something is done about the app and done quickly, then I’m afraid I’m out and won’t be adding any more plugs to my setup.
I have had these plugs since they came out which is probably about three years ago so I think I have given them a fair chance. They are terrible compared to what else is on the market. Despite numerous updates the app makes these unusable. They are both within 12 inches of my router yet constantly need resetting up. Other Wi-fi plugs (which are from a different manufacturer) around my house suffer no such problems. I used to use these to turn on lights when we were out but there unreliability makes it impossible for this. Such a shame that the developers can’t get the software right. Avoid at all costs.
