I've been using Wiser for 18 months now. I chose it over its better known competitor because it allows you to control two heating circuits separately (which its competitor could not do at the time). I don't regret my choice. There are a few niggles that I wish they would sort out. These sort of niggles should not really exist in a mass market consumer product from a company like Schneider. The niggles are: Wiser Authentication: The App doesn't support alternate authentication with the usual suspects (Google, Apple etc.) and the authentication is clunky. The password reset didn't work for me and if you change your password there is not option to allow other logged in devices to remain logged in. Poor Alexa and Google Home UX: The Alexa / Google Home Skills do not replicate the App. You are unable to use a command to "Boost the Heating in [Room] for 30 mins, 1 hr, 2 hr, 3hr" and "Turn Off the Heating Boost in [Room]" . This is the main thing I do in the App. You can't omit the name of the Room where the Alexa / Google Home Device is located (in Alexa / Google Home) to be in the same room. For any other device you can. For example, if your smart speaker is in your living room you just say "Alexa turn off the lights" and it will turn of the lights in the living room. You can't say ""Alexa, increase the temperature" or "Turn up the heating" (which would be more intuitive).
Iโve been using the wiser system for close to 3 years now, and Iโm really pleased with its performance and functionality. I have 13 radiator thermostats and six room thermostats connected to the three channel hub. The ability to control each room individually is second to none, and no other system offers this level of flexibility, coupled with the ease of installation. Just a couple of points, stop me from giving five star reviews. The first is that I have started to experience Wi-Fi drop hours since migrating to a mesh whole home system. I understand that this is to do with conflict between the 2.4 and 5 GHz network, but it would be good to see this resolved in firmware. Second is the inability to use Opentherm on anything other than the single channel hub. I have also heating control method is no longer an option since updating the app to version 6.1.0. It would still be useful to be able to control the amount of boiler cycles per hour from the app, particularly considering that most modern boilers operate a pump overrun feature.
Update: Unfortunately after another update once again I need to enter my credentials. It would be great if the app could stop forgetting my login details. Once more worrying is that there is a huge security flaw - I can't copy and paste my password or use a password manager forcing me to write down my password everywhere in the house. That's a big step backwards and since my custom passwords are very complex it takes ages to type them by hand EVERY time you release an update. First of all, I love the new design. Way better than before. I like the background actually. You could possibly create few pictures and backgrounds for the users to choose from like in Apple Home, to get more users happy. Itโs almost perfect now, but make sure to do pop up yes or no with any delete button that is placed where usually Save/Ok button is so I keep deleting my heating schedules all the time. Also you could redesign the schedule entry mode as itโs quite confusing, maybe try reinventing it? Better iPad support would be great especially with landscape mode as I have it built into the wall. Apple Watch app would be a game changer for Wiser to try becoming the leader in smart home heating automation for iOS ecosystem. Quick tips built into the app with screenshot might help some users with finding common functions or creating setups. Keep it up and well done for all your efforts so far! ๐
