Weather on the Way

I downloaded this app for help determining when was best to take my road trip at a time inclement weather was expected. I found it invaluable and can confidently say, based on my personal though limited experience, that this app absolutely delivered on its intended purpose:

For my trip, WOTW solved the "when is the best time to leave for my roadtrip (when inclement weather is expected)" question any frequent road tripper has faced. It answers this question in a manner unlike anything I've experienced before. No more looking at predictions across multiple cities and basically taking wild guesses on the best time to depart. How does it do this so marvelously? The "time leaving" slider. That's how. This slider is he best road trip weather planning tool I've experienced. It does exactly what you'd hope. Upon entering a destination/departure time, a slider appears below your route map. You can then scroll forward and even backward in time while weather conditions on your route map change dynamically based on current expectations. Perfect.
 Integration with Apple CarPlay is icing on the cake. I'm talking it's RIGHT THERE on your car's screen AS YOU DRIVE. It overlays above Apple Maps somehow. I wasn't able to explore all the amazing capabilities but saw enough to highly recommend Weather On the Way to any frequent road tripper. 

Or even - well, just anyone who wants weather from here to wherever "there" is, now or whenever, no matter how near or far. Highly recommended.

Just got the app and to plan my first trip from Denver, CO to Augusta, GA, here are the problems and they are very annoying: 1) Picked Denver as my start point and Augusta as my end point, went to “Add Stop” and it takes me all the way Augusta first and then back to my first stop in Kansas. This is a basic lack of understanding by the developers as to how people plan trips. The only workaround is to know the route and to add stops along the way until your destination is your final stop. Makes it very time consuming to plan the route. Also keeps you from experimenting like heading to Albuquerque as a stop and then having the trip to adjust to the southern route along interstate 10 to weigh the trade off of extra miles to Augusta vs warmer temperatures and better road conditions since this is a motorcycle trip - can’t do it without making Albuquerque my first destination and then going stop by stop to Augusta. 2) Once you set a trip and departure time the weather along the way stays the same even if you modify the departure time, you can’t just change the departure time and watch the weather along the way respond to see the optimum departure time. You have to redo the whole trip with the new departure time at the onset.

I purchased this app last night after stumbling across it when I was looking for something - anything - that would help me plot weather across my route simply. This app did it beautifully. The interface is great, simple, and informative. I also had what I thought was a glitch (but was not) when I tried to open it on a second device. It turned out that I simply had to wait for that device to sync with my App Store/Apple ID so that the purchase would be recognized. In the interim, I emailed the developer and got a response within minutes. How great is that? I assume the forecast information is accurate since I have not actually traveled as route yet (though, from what I’ve seen as it relates to other weather forecast, the temperatures and cloud cover appear to be accurate) but, from all that I have seen so far, this app is fantastic. If you are a traveler, buy it!
