Vegan Pocket - Scan Food & Eat

So “free w/ in-app purchases”? Sorry, but I couldn’t launch the app without a subscription. It immediately asks to start a 3-day, free trial. That’s the shortest free trial I’ve ever heard of. On top of that, I got the app to find out if something was vegan. I definitely felt that this item wasn’t and wanted to verify. So, fire up the app, sign up for a subscription… as we all know, “Free trial” means subscription. It’s on you to cancel. Anyway, I scan the product and it asks me “Do you think this is vegan?”. Now, I understand that it’s crowd-sourced, but to expect someone to pay money to be like “What do you think? Three other people don’t think that it is.” is offensive. I can go on Reddit for crowd opinion without any verification and NOT pay $4.99/wk! (Default Subscription). What stinks is that I’m sure there’s some value here that warrants a 4-star rating, but I’ll never see it. I’m immediately turned off by this ham-fisted subscription model and an app that asks me what I think when I’m looking for answers. Only my therapist can answer my questions with questions. Again, I bet there’s some hard work and value here, but this app has already ruined its chances with me.

This app is a scam. I subscribed & began exploring the app to find there’s barely anything to it, all I could find was 6 recipes, the scanner, & a “vegan diet” description with information I already knew. Perhaps I’m missing something here, & I just can’t find anything else, but I doubt it. I kept the app regardless bc I mean I paid for it, plus I planned to use the scanner to make sure products were truly vegan if I wasn’t certain. Probably the worst thing about this app is the fact that when you scan a product it does find the exact product, however IT DOES NOT TELL YOU IF THE PRODUCT IS VEGAN, it simply asks you to thumb up or down if you think it is, and you can see how many people thumbed up or down on the product. I guess if your product has a significant amount of thumbs up, maybe you can trust it? But I’m not going to. I was under the impression this app would tell me for a fact whether products were vegan or not, plus include vegan recipes, but with the measly amount of 6 recipes & a vegan “opinions” scanner, I feel like I was completely mislead to believe this app was much more than it is. I would love to know if I am in fact just missing the rest of the recipes, but regardless I have already unsubscribed, I don’t see myself using the app anymore either. I thought this would be something worth investing in because I could simply scan & know if a product is vegan, including some recipes too but this app unfortunately doesn’t deliver almost anything it promises. If there is a true vegan scanner app, THIS IS NOT IT!

I like this app.. but I think it needs to be updated. There’s A LOT of thing that’s aren’t on the app and you as the user would have to add and when asked if I think a product is vegan I can’t even get a visual of what you’re talking about and I can’t see the ingredients which is a HUGE PART of knowing whether or not the product is or isn’t vegan. Add these few things and you’ll had one hell of an app that’ll help beginners!
