Easy....but

Easy to use app, but it wouldnโ€™t work on the first two iPhones I triedโ€”both running iOS 13. Grabbed an iPad running previous iOS with cellularโ€”worked fine. Interface could use a tiny bit of work to be more intuitive.

SkyBeacon App

Easy setup, just follow the instructions. The Reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the wifi connection to the device disconnects after takeoff. If you are using the strobe light (and you donโ€™t have it connected to a wired switch) turning it on and off with the app, then there is no way to turn it off. Consider this if you may fly IMC at night or in low visibility where the strobe could reflect back to the cockpit giving you spatial disorientation. I donโ€™t think the installation instructions or operating instructions list that as a warning, but they should.

App didnโ€™t work on my iPhone X

After installing my skyBeacon I began the WiFi configuration. I followed the app instruction and nothing would happen. The app would just stay on the initial startup screen with instructions for connection. I restarted my phone, deleted and downloaded the app again, and cycle power on the skyBeacon several times. A friend offered to download the app on his iPhone and it worked flawless. So good news is my skyBeacon is configured. Bad news is I may not have a friendโ€™s phone to borrow if I need to configure it again.
