I’ve been a Tymit customer for nearly 3 years and financially, it has been very effective. It’s my go to card when I travel abroad, and allows me to efficiently budget unexpected costs over 3 months interest free without having to dip into my savings. However, I was informed that my account was suspended 4 weeks ago as I no longer fit their risk profile, despite only having a current statement amount of 1.2% of my yearly salary. I knew what would’ve caused this as BT had inadvertently applied a default to my account after sending me two final bills - one being paid, whilst the other accidentally generated bill was left to lapse. I reached out to the customer service team to explain that there had been an error and that BT had rectified this with it soon being reflected on my credit report. However, correspondence with the rep consisted of what appeared to be cut and paste responses with no common sense or empathy applied. This went back and forth for a couple of weeks with the same responses being received, before I reached out to their FinDif department and once again explained what had happened, and that the issue was now rectified. It took the team 2 weeks to finally reverse their decision, but it was reassuring to finally speak to someone who looked at the situation holistically and from a person/situation-centred point of view. I’ll still continue using Tymit, it’s been a very effective tool to have at my disposal, but I do wish that the use of cut and paste responses are reduced to give customers a higher standard of service.
Rarely use Tymit any more. What made it stand out as being different from other credit cards now no longer exist. I’m back to using a Barclaycard which does pretty much the same as Tymit now but with a lower APR and a small amount of cashback. If Tymit can no longer differentiate itself from the mainstream I can’t see it lasting much longer. Update- for some reason I am now having a number of problems with the app. No response from Tymit customer service either in app or on their community site. Interest rates keep going up - more than doubled over the last year. Everything is pointing towards Tymit not being with us for much longer. I have consequently stopped using and taken out an alternative credit card. Such a shame as I have been with Tymit for a few years and liked what they were trying to do. ———————————— Have been with Tymit for some time now and in the early days there were a few glitches. However, recently some updates have helped and now things seem to be working as they should. I like the slightly different take that Tymit have on credit cards, and for that reason I will continue to use Tymit as my ‘everything’ card.
I like Tymit very much because they are keen to change the way credit is traditionally given to customers. No interest on payments until after 3 months if you choose - they have options to pay in full or upto 3 months for the months purchase and it will cost you no interest! or pay over a longer term with different interest levels applicable. Really like their app where you can use their calculator that shows interest and timeline for any future planned purchases you may want to make. They feel like a much more human and customer orientated provider to me, responsive and helpful team who answer any questions you have via the app. Thx Tymit!!
