I struggle with new technological applications as an older, returning student to a digital campus. I began to entertain the idea that somehow the applications did not like me for some reason. I stopped trying to mine the application and I asked a person for help. Ultimately, I was transferred to a warm and welcoming lady who manages the university student identification office. She informed me that yes, there was something about me. My identification number was the same but because it was so long since I last used it the system needed authorization. The problem was not that the application disliked me personally. In the end, I find digital applications are useful, and even fun. But… there is nothing to replace warm, kind, helpful, human understanding.
