Talkpal - AI Language Learning

I am a lower intermediate level and needed to speak more. After trying several Apps and even joining a live Spanish-Speaking course, I still did not receive sufficient speaking time or grammar feedback to help me move forward. ChatGPT recommended Talkpal, which I never heard of, and I have been using it for 65 days consecutively. This App is just awesome. You get unlimited opportunities to speak without a script and you get many opportunities to speak with a script as well as to perfect your diction and grammar. Plus, there are many different Topics which allow you to reinforce your vocabulary with pre-scripted and un-scripted lessons. Plus, the App offers a variety of learning methods-word practice, sentence practice, etc. This is good for me since I get bored easily. I wish I had found this App when I started learning Spanish. It is awesome and I have seen a drastic improvement in my speaking ability. Thank you!

I just moved overseas to Germany as a military child, and I’m trying to learn German without having to pay a whole lot of money. I love the ai part for my Spanish because I know a lot of spanish, but I can do that for free on ChatGPT. Also, I am completely new to German, so I can’t use the AI feature much yet. The free part of the app is just a demo with the AI. There’s no demo for learning anything. Paying for this app is like a gamble with your money. You don’t know if it’s even gonna be worth it. We have already paid thousands and thousands of dollars just to get here overseas. I understand have premium features entirely, but it’s annoying how many apps nowadays try to act all “personalized” and cost so much, and usually aren’t even worth it. I bet most of the money usually goes to the animations and art of the app to make it feel fancy. Idk, I just think it’s weird that you only get 5 minutes to talk with an AI. Especially since most AI runs by tokens and not with time. I understand that not everything is gonna be free, but paying to learn public knowledge that is free in many other places, especially the AI, is just not worth me paying money to keep this app. This may be a great app, but I didn’t know I had to pay for it to get more than just 5 minutes to talk with an AI that is perfectly fluent in another language as a total beginner. I can’t even form a coherent sentence yet because I don’t even know more than a few words yet Again, I understand I’m just complaining about getting things for free, but I think you should find a way to make some of this free and accessible instead of so corporate and whatever lol

TalkAI is continually making serious errors in Gallego. In call mode, it has been teaching me to say “portugous” instead of potugués and “espanhol” with an aspirated “h” sound instead of español. In chat mode, it used the word “preto” for “near” in a question and then in feedback to my next answer using the same exact word said that “preto” is wrong and the correct word is “cerca.” This are just a few examples after just 10 minutes of trual. My teacher must absolutely never teach me to speak incorrectly and should be banned forever for trying to change my correct usage of the language to something incoorrect. I suggest pulling this language off your list for now or at least warning users that it’s Beta and to expect FREQUENT errors. Same for other languages still in dev.
