I Love This Game

Almost the perfect game. It’s easy to play and learn. It also uses the simplest elements of baseball: pitching and hitting. I recommend spending a few minutes before playing games in the Batting Cage to get your timing right. But even more intriguing is how the game uses the complexities of managing. You choose pitchers with different abilities. You choose a lineup based on a combination of hitting and fielding abilities. And you are stuck with the players you have until you get lucky and get another player with better abilities. Then there’s the game play itself: situational baseball. When you pitch, you have to know your strengths and your opponent’s weaknesses. Some cannot hit a snake ball. Some cannot time a changeup. When you hit, you have to be able to hit down the lines or up the middle, depending on where the tiles and the fielders are placed. Yeah, I’ve spent about $20 on rubies, but I didn’t have to in order to enjoy this game. And I may be naive, but I suspect that reviewers who think they are playing against bots are just people who haven’t taken the time to manage their lineups and work their timing for batting. I win 70% of my games and lose 30% to players who have managed their lineups and have had better luck.

Fun game, but gets frustrating

I played this game quite a bit for the past 3 months or so. The game play is really addicting and it’s fun use different batters and pitchers. The recent update upped the challenge a bit which I really enjoyed. And the mini games can be quite fun as well. The monster battles are a good opportunity to earn cards and unique bats, and are a good blend between fun and challenging. There’s a practice mode for batting and another game mode where you score points if you hit specific tiles. The Summer series really demotivated me though. You’re not playing against real people, which is fine, but you’re not competing against real people in these type of competitions either. They can go 20-0 with 115+ run differentials, which in my experience is pretty near impossible these days. This would require some absolute perfect hits a lot of the time against some pretty high level pitchers who can make it where you have a small target to try and hit or just randomly throw your base hits out and pretty much make it where you have two outs despite playing flawlessly. Doesn’t matter what kind of pitches you’re throwing this, opponent can hit anything and can stage some serious comeback. And since they’re level 10 all the time they sure seem to have their abilities activate twice or 3x as much as yours. It made me pretty indifferent to losing, which made me put the game down. Regardless of this, the game is still fun and can be pretty addicting until you get to a certain point. I would recommend this game for anyone to try it out for a while.

Addicting

Been playing for weeks. Never spent a dime. At first it’s easy, then becomes more difficult the more fielders are added. I said I never spent a dime, but I have watch a boatload of ads, still do. Had issues winning all the time and would waste all my coins playing the expensive stadiums. After figuring out how to play better, I win the highest stadium almost 99% of the time and have racked up over 95 million coins. It seems to easy now. I’m very skeptical that the teams I play aren’t real individuals. I sometimes can get 20 or more runs but have never had anyone else score that many on me. I can’t be that good. A player is matched against me and hits what I’d expect to be obvious hits to put men on base. Then, after they get a few runs against me, they hit completely stupid bad hits; almost on purpose. Plus, the stupid baseball facial expression emojis pop up all the time. Like when I hit a bad hit, the emoji from the other team gives me a positive face. That’s not human. Most would make a laughing face for my mistake, or no face at all. I never use the face emojis. Anyway, I enjoy playing the game, but I wish I knew for certain that I was playing an actual person. I think they take actual people’s teams and their current status, put it’s a bot actually playing. Cause I know for certain if I racked up 20 runs to their 2 runs, a lot of people word quit it the middle of the game, but no games I’ve played have ever been forfeited. Hmmm...
