I feel like I found my lost Streichfett. If there is a difference between the synth and the plug in, my ear can’t tell. I hope Waldorf makes a Rocket plug in next.
If you’re inspired by the albums of J.-M. Jarre, as I am, you will love this synth. It’s a shortcut to sounds I know from records and have struggled to reproduce. There’s more to it than that: despite the simple interface, this little box can cover a surprising range of sounds. But strings and pads are its strength. I’ve spent a lot of time making string patches on other synths, both hardware and software, and Streichfett does it better than anything I’ve tried. The criticism of its preset system is valid, but the sound and the interface more than make up for it. Thank you, Waldorf, for bringing this synth to iPad and iPhone.
I was surprised that you can only save 16 presets in this app. Very frustrating! I wish I had known this before purchasing. Also, controls like attack are very limited. I like creating patches with long attack, and you just can’t do that. Again frustrating. Expect the types of sounds this can make to be very similar. This is true for any string machine, but this is missing basic app functionality, thus the low rating.
