Despite hundreds of people reporting an ‘Error 5000’ when Casting movies for well over 2 years now, Sky refuse to properly acknowledge the issue and it remains unfixed. Worse still, each new support ticket seems to see them reply with surprise when you report it to them, as if they weren’t aware before. I have a lot of time for Sky as a company, but their attitude and arrogance towards supporting their iOS/iPadOS app for Sky Store is appalling. The error is preventing people from casting their movies to their TV, meaning that customers are locked out of their digital purchases if they no longer subscribe to Sky’s TV services. This, despite you still being able to purchase movies on the Sky Store website - it’s clear they’re happy to take your money even if you’re not a Sky TV customer, otherwise why not just limit purchases to just Sky boxes? There is no doubt that this is a technical issue, but given that this is the only app that struggles with its advertised casting abilities, it’s also clear that Sky aren’t investing time or money to fix it. This is unacceptable, if you’re happy to let us buy films, you also need to take ownership of well publicised app errors. Speak to your customers, keep us updated, and don’t stick your head in the sand. All you are doing is increasing our frustration and it’s simply not good enough. Poor communication, poor support and an extremely poor user experience. If you’ve never bought films from Sky Store before, I wholeheartedly recommend you to protect your future digital film collection by purchasing elsewhere.
Great once films were downloaded...watched all the time. Since an upgrade few months back only a couple of the films I have downloaded will play...the other half dozen wont play. when I click to play/watch i just get blank screen on iPad and the timer going round... .....UPDATE: uninstalled app, reinstalled and downloaded all films again. They still will not start to play when offline, but if you start the film while connected, you can then disconnect and they will play offline, however, if you stop the film and come back to where you left off, you again need connection to play again. Ridiculous.
What a complete load of rubbish this app is. The only reason it got one star is because I couldn't give it a negative rating Like others have mentioned I got the app so I could watch TV/films whilst away on holiday during some long train journeys. Silly me for thinking that would be a good idea. Of the 12 items downloaded only four will play off line from the download. All the others just give me a blank screen and one tells me it's not compatible with my device (an iPhone 6) ! Even when I got to my hotel and used their wifi it didn't work. I'm not interested in any convoluted fixes to try and make it work I just want to watch the programmes/films that I've paid for when, where and how I want to using the app that I've been told is there for the purpose. If the only way to watch them is via my own wifi connection at home I may as well watch them on my TV. Believe in better the adverts tell us. I do. which is why I'll look elsewhere.
