Well Designed and Is Getting Better

I am a person who has found logging my media to be beneficial. It’s cool to check my Letterboxd account to see when I’ve watched films. I also used TV Time to do something similar for shows. And League of Comic Geeks for comics. But I had trouble finding an app I liked for tracking books and video games. They had extra features I didn’t want and their UIs weren’t pleasant to use. But with Sequel, the design of this app makes perfect sense. I love how simple and well organized everything is. And the categories are organized perfectly for what mediums they cover. For example, the Film one is very simple (To Watch and Watched). The Video Game one is understandably more complex. But it’s that each section is well thought out for what it specifically is that makes me so happy. The two things with the app I had issues with were that some books were not showing up in the search and that I didn’t want Audiobooks and Films in my searches. So I was very happy to see that the newest updated allowed me to add books manually and allowed me to filter out Films and Audiobooks. I’m enjoying Sequel so much that I’ve even started moving my TV logging to Sequel. This is a great app I would recommend to everyone. If I had a request, I’m not a fan of star ratings and wish that I had a option to just mark media with a heart (or not) like how Letterboxd allows. Thank you so much for this app.

Was a good app, now I wish for an additional setting

This is a really good app that I use to track everything that I watch, play, read, and listen to. I chose it specifically despite the other competitor apps because it did not have a “watch date” on my shows, as I sometimes forget and have to add it later. I had gone through probably a few dozen apps before I was able to settle on sequel. Simple, attractive ui, really great app. Until it updated. And now it has obligatory, non editable watch dates. Now, this is only minorly annoying, but it’s enough that I’m tempted to find a new tracking app, or to even create my own. All I ask, dear developer, is that you give us a setting (in free mode, please) to completely turn off the watch date interface. I don’t want to know *when* I watched these movies, because my memory isn’t that great, so most of the dates are wrong. It gives me so much unnecessary stress and anxiety, when it was the main feature that I had downloaded this app for. I suppose it’s the truth of “one man’s trash” and all that, but the simple lack of watch dates was my treasure. I hope you take this to heart, and I hope to see a new setting soon. One day, when I can afford it, if this app is still everything it was when I first found it, I will be buying the paid version. I just want to see some changes first. One change. Let me turn off watch dates.

Sequel is hands-down, one of my favorite apps.

From the moment I downloaded Sequel, thanks to David Pierce from The Verge, it became an integral part of my daily routine. I’m a movie and TV buff, and I watch a lot of content, so it can be challenging to remember when new stuff releases. The new episode reminders and tracking feature is incredibly useful for me. I love that there’s a little note section for everything. After watching something, I can write a brief review, leave notes for myself, and then rate it. The only downside for me is that I wish the ratings were integrated into a larger service like Rotten Tomatoes. The collections feature is really nice and very helpful for further organization. The most recent update, which adds the ability to modify the completion date, is also handy when adding previously watched content. I think the subscription might not be super necessary for most people, but I’m happy to pay it knowing that I’m supporting the developer. Overall, Sequel is one of my favorite apps, and I use it every single day. I’m excited to see where the development goes in the future and what new features will be introduced.
